When does morning sickness start to ease?

Morning sickness (English name: Morning sickness) is a type of early pregnancy reaction. As a result, vomiting occurs. I was eating peacefully, but when I smelled the food I felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. Appetite completely disappeared, weight was reduced, and most had various types of headaches. When it comes to the most torturous thing about pregnancy, it is probably morning sickness, which may make you grimace when you talk about it.

1. Three major causes of morning sickness

First, morning sickness usually starts at 5-6 weeks and continues until it decreases or disappears after 12 weeks. This is related to the fluctuation of hCG levels in pregnant women. During pregnancy, hCG levels rise sharply, and the body cannot bear this huge change, so morning sickness occurs;

Second, it may be related to human "super evolution". In order to protect the baby, the human body will remind the expectant mother through morning sickness: "You are already pregnant, you should pay attention to your daily life." And through morning sickness, the body will vomit out the food that is suspected to be bad, harmful, and may harm the health of the fetus, so as to achieve the purpose of protecting the fetus;

Third, it may be that during pregnancy, the mother's body functions become more sensitive. Even if the smell is light, the mother can smell it clearly. Because the taste buds and sense of smell are more sensitive, the feeling of nausea is also stimulated.

As for why some people vomit a lot while others vomit less or not at all, it can only be said that it is a matter of individual differences. After all, everyone's body's hormones and changes are different, coupled with personal physical fitness, living environment, mental stress and other factors, naturally lead to different levels of morning sickness in expectant mothers.

2. Morning sickness generally does not easily affect fetal growth and development

In fact, under normal circumstances, even if pregnant women reduce their meals due to severe vomiting, it will not affect the fetus from getting nutrition from the mother. Pregnant women do not need to force themselves to eat, they can eat small and frequent meals.

However, if the vomiting is so severe that you lose your appetite, vomit a lot after eating a little, and vomit several times a day, it may be hyperemesis gravidarum. Hyperemesis gravidarum may cause metabolic and neurological disorders, which is not good for pregnant women and fetuses. It must be treated with intravenous drip immediately. But there is no need to worry too much. As to whether hyperemesis gravidarum affects the growth of the baby, the evidence of most scientific studies so far is that the chance of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) in the fetus of women with hyperemesis gravidarum is not increased. In other words, even if a pregnant woman has severe vomiting during pregnancy, it does not necessarily affect the fetus.
