What causes urine leakage in girls?

The probability of urinary incontinence is relatively high for women, especially for women after childbirth. Since the pelvic floor muscles will relax, urinary incontinence is more likely to occur. However, in addition to pelvic floor muscle relaxation, there are many other reasons for female urinary incontinence. Because a small number of women who have not experienced childbirth also experience urinary incontinence, the following is a summary of the causes of urinary incontinence in girls.

Probably the most common cause of urine leakage in women is stress incontinence, which is the involuntary leakage of urine from loud talking, coughing, laughing, or applying abdominal force, usually without a history of trauma or surgery. A woman's pelvic floor relaxes due to multiple births or aging, which can lead to hypospadias and incomplete urethral closure. Therefore, urine leakage is called stress incontinence. Urine leakage is especially noticeable in women who have given birth multiple times vaginally. Treatment requires surgery to repair the pelvic floor and urethra downwards in order to achieve a cure.

There are many reasons for urination. The most common are stress incontinence, urge incontinence, and overfill incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence is caused by pelvic floor muscle relaxation and detrusor sphincter dysfunction. Urge incontinence is caused by an overactive bladder and frequent contractions of the bladder lining. Overflow incontinence usually occurs in older people and is caused by excess urine output. In order to determine these three reasons, urodynamic examination and bladder B-ultrasound examination can be performed.

Frequent urination, urgency, and bleeding in women are most likely due to a urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection is a common clinical disease, which is more common in women. It is mainly related to short urethra and poor resistance in women. Urinary tract infections usually have triggers, such as drinking too little water, staying up late, overwork and too frequent sexual activity. When a urinary tract infection occurs, bacteria multiply and irritate the mucous membranes, causing congestion and edema, causing symptoms of frequent urination, urgency, and blood in the urine. Treatment for a UTI requires oral antibiotics, more fluids, and more attention. Furthermore, adequate treatment is required, as it will become chronic if not completely treated.

As we age, the urethral sphincter relaxes. Urine is expelled involuntarily from the body when abdominal pressure increases, such as from laughing, coughing, and sneezing. This consideration is true urinary incontinence. In severe cases, surgical treatment may be considered. Normally, the pelvic floor muscles can also be trained, and anal levator muscle exercises can help relieve urinary incontinence symptoms.
