Plastic surgery to repair inverted nipples

Plastic surgery to repair inverted nipples

Inverted nipple is generally a congenital malformation, but it can also be caused by acquired factors such as trauma, surgical treatment, etc. It can be corrected through surgical methods. Nipple correction is a type of plastic surgery treatment for breast augmentation. So, what are the complications of cosmetic surgery to correct inverted nipples? Let's have a simple understanding of this issue. I hope the following points will be helpful to everyone!

The degree of nipple inversion varies from person to person, and the method used will also be different. Mild cases of nipple inversion can be treated with non-surgical treatments. However, for irreversible nipple inversion, that is, moderate to severe nipple inversion, it can only be corrected through surgical treatment. The surgical treatment for correcting inverted nipples is based on loosening and stretching the inverted muscle tissue bundles and filling the surrounding tissue under the nipple to increase the nipple's bearing capacity, make the nipple protrude, and reshape it. Nipple retraction correction surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia. There are two main types of surgery. The surgery that meets the patient's requirements can be selected based on the specific situation.

Correction of inverted nipple is not a complicated cosmetic surgery, but because it will touch some delicate nerves in the chest, the surgery needs to be performed with caution. A doctor with rich experience in plastic surgery should be selected to perform the surgery. Patients should be aware of the following complications of nipple correction:

1) Infection after surgery. Many patients had inflammation before surgery, and the doctors did not adequately clean and disinfect the parts before surgery, resulting in postoperative inflammation in patients with inflammation. Treatment: Clean the nipple area before surgery. If the patient has inflammation, surgery can only be performed after the inflammation is under control.

2) Nipple retraction occurs after surgery. During surgery, the doctor did not completely separate the area below the nipple, and failed to separate the tight muscle fibers and connective tissue, resulting in nipple retraction. Treatment: You can first use a manual breast pump to suction with negative pressure. If the nipple is still retracted after one week, you can consider another surgery. The time for reoperation should be half a year after the operation.

3) Postoperative nipple necrosis. It is also caused by incorrect surgical treatment. This is because the doctor cuts off most of the nerves and blood vessels supplying the nipple in order to cut off the tight smooth muscle fibers and connective tissue, or because the ligature is too tight during the suture operation. Treatment: When you find that the nipple blood circulation is not good, you should release the pressure on the wallet line in time. Once nipple necrosis is detected, the necrotic tissue must be eliminated and the wound repaired before a nipple graft or labia skin graft can be performed on the other side.

4) Nipple reduction after surgery. This condition may occur in patients with more severe nipple inversion. Because surgical treatment requires the removal of part of the nipple skin or the use of nipple skin transplantation to widen the nipple, the nipple will be reduced in size. Generally, regular hospitals will inform patients before the operation that the nipples will shrink after the operation.

5) Secondary nipple retraction. Especially if one side is sunken, you should be alert to the occurrence of breast cancer.
