Does Progynova affect follicle development?

Does Progynova affect follicle development?

Progynova is a therapeutic drug. After taking this drug, it has a certain therapeutic effect on many diseases, especially for female friends with irregular menstrual cycles. If the patient takes the drug under the guidance of a doctor, it usually will not cause great damage to the body. Unless the drug is taken in excess, it may affect the growth and development rate of the patient's own follicles.

Progynova (estradiol valerate tablets) is indicated for use in combination with progestins to establish an artificial menstrual cycle to supplement estrogen deficiency primarily associated with natural or artificial menopause: vasomotor disorders (hot flashes), nutritional diseases of the genital urinary tract (vulvovaginal atrophy, dyspareunia, urinary incontinence) and psychiatric disorders (sleep disorders, asthenia). Improvement of cervical mucus.

When starting HRT, hormonal contraceptives should be discontinued and patients should be advised to use non-hormonal contraceptive measures if necessary.

Interactions with drugs

Long-term use of hepatic enzyme-inducing drugs (such as several anticonvulsants and antimicrobials) can accelerate the clearance of sex hormones and may reduce their clinical efficacy. Drugs with confirmed liver enzyme-inducing properties include hydantoins, barbiturates, primidone, carbamazepine, and rifampin, and suspected drugs include oxcarbazepine, topiramate, felbamate, and griseofulvin. Maximum enzyme induction generally occurs 2 to 3 weeks after treatment, but this effect can persist for at least 4 weeks after drug treatment is stopped.

In rare cases, a decrease in estradiol levels has been observed during concomitant use of certain antibiotics, such as penicillins and tetracyclines.

Some tightly bound substances (such as paracetamol) may increase the bioavailability of estradiol by competitively inhibiting the binding system during absorption.

Due to the effect on glucose tolerance, the dosage of oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin may change in individual cases.

Interaction with alcohol

Acute alcohol intake during HRT can lead to an increase in circulating estradiol levels.

Interactions with laboratory tests

The use of sex steroids can affect biochemical parameters such as liver, thyroid, adrenal, and renal function, levels of plasma (carrier) proteins such as corticosteroid binding globulin and lipid/lipoprotein ratio, carbohydrate metabolism parameters, and coagulation and fibrinolysis parameters.

The use of estradiol valerate tablets will not inhibit ovulation and will basically not affect the production of endogenous hormones.

During menopause, the decrease and eventual disappearance of ovarian estradiol secretion leads to instability in thermoregulation, causing hot flashes with sleep disturbances and excessive sweating, and urogenital atrophy with symptoms of vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and urinary incontinence. Some of the symptoms of menopause that are often mentioned but have low specificity are complaints of angina, palpitations, irritability, nervousness, fatigue, inability to concentrate, forgetfulness, loss of libido, and joint and muscle pain. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can relieve many of the symptoms of estrogen deficiency in menopausal women.
