How to check if the fallopian tubes are open?

The fallopian tube is a critical part of the female body. The health of the fallopian tube will directly affect the normal reproductive function of women, and it will also easily affect the health of women's body. The method to check whether the fallopian tube is unobstructed is to perform hysterosalpingography or laparoscopy. Angiography can also be used to check whether the fallopian tube is unobstructed.

How to check if the fallopian tubes are unobstructed

Examinations include: hysterosalpingography, hysterosalpingography, laparoscopic hysterosalpingography,

, fallopian tube catheterization and fluid insufflation under hysteroscopy, fallopian tube endoscopy and salpingography under ultrasound detection. First of all, hysterosalpingography is a simple and inexpensive examination method, but the accuracy is not high and often requires judgment based on the doctor's clinical experience and the feel during the operation. Then iodized oil angiography of the hysterosalpingography can show the condition of the uterus and fallopian tubes. The cost of hysterosalpingography under direct laparoscopy is relatively high.

Methods for checking whether the fallopian tubes are unobstructed include hydrotubation, hysterosalpingography, and laparoscopic hydrotubation. The method of hydrotubation is not very accurate and is rarely used. Hysterosalpingography is now more commonly used, with lower costs and less trauma, but it can sometimes be inaccurate. If there is a slight blockage in the fallopian tube or there is hydrosalpinx, the blockage can be seen during hysterosalpingography. The most accurate method now is to perform fallopian tube insufflation under laparoscopy. Colored liquid is injected through the uterine cavity and can be seen directly flowing out of the fallopian tube. This means the fallopian tube is unobstructed. If it cannot flow out, it means the fallopian tube is blocked. This method is the most accurate.

Fallopian tube obstruction is the most common cause of female infertility due to the inability of sperm and egg to combine, accounting for 30% to 40% of infertility cases. Before doctors look for the cause of infertility, a fallopian tube patency test is a must-do examination. The following are some common experimental methods:

1. Tubal fluid insufflation. This method is simple, safe and commonly used. The liquid can be normal saline plus gentamicin, or 2% pink added to the above liquids. The advantages of tubal insufflation are that it is simple and safe, and there are many judgment methods. The disadvantages are that it is impossible to determine which side of the fallopian tube is unobstructed or blocked, and the injection requires strict aseptic operation, otherwise there is a possibility of complications such as pelvic infection and fallopian tube abscess, which may lead to complete loss of function.

2. Hysterosalpingography. The specific method is to monitor the image of the uterus and fallopian tubes under B-ultrasound monitoring, and then transport normal saline to the uterine cavity through a double-lumen tube to observe the patency of the fallopian tubes. The advantage of this method is that it is as simple and safe as the above method. The disadvantage is that it cannot observe the endometrium, whether the fallopian tube endometrium is smooth and soft, and whether there is adhesion in the pelvic cavity.

3. Hysterosalpingography with iodized oil can determine the site of tubal obstruction and observe whether the uterus has any deformities, myomas, and endometrial and fallopian tube tuberculosis. Its advantage is that it can display the entire shape of the uterus and fallopian tube lumen. Its disadvantage is that in very rare cases, pulmonary embolism may occur. If the fallopian tube is blocked, the contrast agent retained in the lumen for a long time may stimulate local granuloma. If the pressure is too high, it may also cause fallopian tube rupture.
