How to do cervical cancer screening

Cervical cancer screening is a method of checking for cervical diseases. This method of examination usually takes a week to know the results of the examination. The examination method is also relatively complicated. Women need to go to the hospital for a TCT examination, which extracts endometrial cells for examination and then determines whether there are symptoms of cervical cancer. Now let us understand how cervical cancer screening is performed.

How to do cervical cancer screening

Cervical cancer is the only malignant tumor that can be prevented by vaccines. The emergence of the HPV vaccine is undoubtedly a great blessing for women. Injecting the HPV vaccine when pregnant can effectively prevent cervical cancer. If a woman is doing cervical cancer screening for the first time, she should be interested in the process of cervical cancer screening. In fact, the operation is very simple and the person being examined will not feel any particular discomfort.

After arriving in the examination room, the doctor will place a vaginal speculum in the vagina of the person being examined, and then use a soft brush to collect a small amount of cells from the surface of the cervix for subsequent testing. The sampling process only takes a few minutes. You won’t feel much during the whole process. There will be no pain or wounds. You can move immediately after the sampling is completed.

When undergoing cervical cancer screening, women should avoid their menstrual period and refrain from sexual intercourse within one day before menstruation. If a small amount of bloody discharge appears in the vagina after sampling, there is no need to worry too much, as it will usually recover within a few days. What women should know is that cervical cancer screening is not cervical cancer biopsy. Cervical cancer biopsy is performed only when a serious malignancy is found after cervical cancer screening and if possible. The two are completely different concepts.

What should you pay attention to during cervical screening?

Many precautions need to be taken before cervical screening. It is recommended that female friends who need to do cervical screening should first understand carefully to avoid unnecessary trouble!

1. Check your stool early in the morning and empty your urine within the first 10 minutes.

2. Women who are receiving gynecological vaginal medication should stop using it for at least 2 days before the examination.

3. Avoid irregular vaginal bleeding during menstruation, especially after menstrual bleeding, be sure to check and tell the doctor about the situation. The doctor can only conduct the examination after strict disinfection.

4. Do not use the same room 48 hours before cervical cytology examination to avoid vaginal hot flashes, otherwise the condition of the cervix cannot be truly reflected.

5. In principle, women who are not living in a married couple do not need to undergo cervical cancer screening or gynecological examinations, but they must notify their doctor in advance.

6. During the examination, you must relax and stay calm. Tension will cause the muscles of the vagina and cervix to shrink and contract, making it difficult for the doctor to take samples and the person being examined will feel uncomfortable. Female friends should pay attention to the above matters before screening for cervical cancer.
