Female IUD removal surgery

Female IUD removal surgery

When the egg and sperm in a woman's body successfully combine to form a fertilized egg, she will become pregnant. However, if she does not want the child, she can only have an abortion. Continuous abortions will cause irreversible damage to the woman's uterus. Therefore, if you want to avoid abortion, you can only take contraceptive measures during sexual intercourse. Wearing an IUD is the most effective method of contraception. So what is the IUD removal surgery for women like?

Ring removal time

1. If the inserted ring has reached the prescribed period, you should go to the hospital to remove the ring in time to avoid deformation or failure of the ring in the uterus. Generally, metal rings can be stored for 20 years, silicone rubber V-rings can be stored for 7 to 10 years, and copper sleeve T-rings can be stored for 10 to 15 years. A new ring can be put in while removing the ring.

2. Before removing the ring, you should first undergo an X-ray fluoroscopy or "B" type ultrasound examination. For a ring with a tail thread, ask the doctor to dilate the vaginal opening to see if there is any nylon thread outside the uterine opening to confirm that the ring is in the uterine cavity before removing it. The best time to remove the ring is within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over, which can reduce bleeding.

3. Come to the hospital to remove the IUD within 3 to 5 days after your period ends (no sexual intercourse).

4. Take appropriate amount of anti-infection and hemostatic drugs after removing the IUD.

5. If there are obvious changes in the menstrual cycle during menopause, such as the cycle becomes longer or menopause lasts for more than 6 months, the ring should be removed in time.

IUD Removal Surgery

Preoperative preparation

1. Preoperative examination includes routine blood test, routine leucorrhea test, and B-ultrasound examination.

2. Do not eat or drink for 4 hours before surgery.

3. For postmenopausal women whose uterus has atrophied, they need to take Progynova or Premarin for one week before the operation.

4. For patients with tight cervix, take 0.6 mg of miso before surgery and wait 2 hours before surgery.

Preoperative examination

Female friends who are preparing to have an IUD inserted are very concerned about the precautions after the insertion. In fact, the precautions before removing the IUD are also very important. An X-ray or "B" type ultrasound examination should be performed before removing the ring.

Painful removal of the ring

Generally speaking, the pain caused by IUD removal is within the acceptable range for women, but for the sake of their own health, everyone should still choose painless IUD removal. There will be no pain during the operation, but you may experience slight lower abdominal discomfort, back pain or a small amount of vaginal bleeding on the day of IUD removal. This is normal and will disappear after a period of adjustment. If the surgery can be performed at the optimal time, the body can recover as quickly as possible after the surgery.

Bleeding after IUD removal

There is a certain period of use for IUDs. When some women have had IUDs inserted for a certain period of time, they need to have them removed. Many women do not experience any abnormalities after having their IUD removed, but the possibility of exceptions cannot be ruled out. Some women will experience bleeding after the removal of the IUD. There may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding or bloody leucorrhea, which usually disappears on its own in a day or two. This is because the removal of the IUD stimulates the endometrium and cervix, which is a normal phenomenon. However, if the vaginal bleeding is heavy or the bleeding time is long, it is an abnormal phenomenon and you should seek medical treatment in time.
