Can you see the cervix when taking vaginal discharge?

Leucorrhea examination is an essential examination method during gynecological examination. This is because the normality of leucorrhea is closely related to the health of women's private parts. When doing a leucorrhea examination, it is necessary to collect the leucorrhea. Generally speaking, the cervix can be seen when collecting the leucorrhea, and it can also be determined whether the woman has cervical erosion problems. Next, I will introduce to you the relevant knowledge about removing leucorrhea!

1. Methods of removing leucorrhea

Gynecological examination of leucorrhea can be done through a vaginal speculum or a colposcope, with a cotton swab to remove the leucorrhea for bacterial culture. Generally, there is obvious vaginal inflammation, and cervical inflammation requires leucorrhea examination. Determining which type of inflammatory bacterial infection is causing the disease through examination results and choosing effective and sensitive drug treatment can be of great help in treatment, effectively shorten the course of the disease, and achieve the best therapeutic effect in the shortest time. Generally, the best time to go to the hospital for leucorrhea examination is 3 to 7 days after the end of menstruation.

2. Leucorrhea inspection content

1. Vaginal pH

The normal vaginal pH is 4-4.5, which is slightly acidic and can prevent pathogenic bacteria from multiplying in the vagina.

2. Vaginal cleanliness

Vaginal cleanliness can be divided into 4 levels: Level I: A large number of vaginal epithelial cells and vaginal bacilli can be seen under a microscope. Grade II: Vaginal epithelial cells, a small amount of white blood cells, some vaginal bacilli, and a small amount of miscellaneous bacteria or pus cells are seen under the microscope. Grade III: A small amount of vaginal bacilli, a large number of pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria are seen under the microscope. Grade IV: No vaginal bacilli are seen under the microscope, and except for a small amount of epithelial cells, there are mainly pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria. Grades I to II are normal, and grades III to IV are abnormal leucorrhea, indicating vaginal inflammation.

3. Vaginal microbes

Normal situation: None. There will usually be items such as fungi, trichomonas, and gonococci. If present, it will be marked as “+” (positive) on the result, and if not, it will be marked as “-” (negative).

4. Amine test is also called amine odor test

It is a method for diagnosing bacterial vaginosis. If you suffer from bacterial gynecological inflammation, your leucorrhea may have a fishy odor, because the amines produced by anaerobic bacteria release ammonia when they come into contact with potassium hydroxide.

5. Clue Cells

It is the most sensitive and specific sign of bacterial vaginosis. The diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis can be made based on a positive amine test and the presence of clue cells.

3. Clinical significance

1. When the vaginal pH value is >5-6, it may be trichomoniasis or bacterial vaginitis.

2. When the vaginal cleanliness is grade III to IV, it may indicate vaginitis.

3. Vaginal microbiological examination shows positive results for Candida and Trichomonas, which may indicate vaginitis.

4. If the leucorrhea is abnormal, such as yellow or yellow-green with a foul odor, it may be Trichomonas vaginitis; if the leucorrhea is like tofu dregs, it may indicate fungal vaginitis.
