What is cervical screening?

In today's society, each of us not only needs survival skills, but more importantly, it is necessary to maintain good health. Take women for example, many of them spend their spare time pursuing beauty, but fail to pay attention to protecting their body organs, and only regret it when they get sick. Whether you are a young woman or a middle-aged or elderly woman, organs such as the cervix must be maintained in a timely manner. So, what is cervical screening?

Cervical screening refers to precancer screening for cervical cancer, namely cervical liquid-based cytology smear and HPV screening.

1. TCT is a test of cervical surface cells to determine whether there is cell degeneration. The degree of precancerous lesions is roughly determined based on the degree of cell degeneration. It is generally divided into normal (NILM), atypical squamous epithelial hyperplasia (Ascus), low-grade squamous epithelial hyperplasia (LSIL) and high-grade squamous epithelial hyperplasia (HSIL). The decision on whether to perform further biopsy is based on the severity of the lesion.

2. HPV is the abbreviation of human papillomavirus, a virus transmitted through sexual intercourse. The HPV virus is divided into high-risk and low-risk types. The virus exists in the cervix for a long time, and the chance of getting cervical cancer is dozens of times higher than that of normal women. Low-risk HPV viruses can also cause vulvar warts, while high-risk types 16 and 18 are the most common. Clinically, more than 99.9% of cervical cancers are caused by HPV infection. It is important to know that cervical HPV infection does not necessarily develop into cervical cancer, and viral infection does not mean cell degeneration, and vice versa. Therefore, cervical screening generally recommends combined screening of TCT and HPV.

Cervical cancer is the only cancer that can be prevented and treated in advance. Clinically, it is recommended that women who have sexual activities be screened once a year.
