Does a positive cervical test result mean cancer?

Cancer is a very, very scary disease, because in the eyes of many people, once you get cancer, you are doomed to die. Most women have a misunderstanding that a positive HPV test means cervical cancer because they do not understand cervical cancer screening. But in fact, if HPV is positive, it does not necessarily mean cervical cancer.

Among the precancerous lesions of cervical cancer, about 90% of women will get a positive result for the HPV virus, but this result only means that they are infected with the HPV virus. Not everyone who is infected with the HPV virus will get cervical cancer. Even if the HPV test result is positive on the report form, the patient does not need to panic, because there are many types of HPV viruses, but only a very small number of HPV viruses can cause cervical cancer. In fact, most women will be infected with the HPV virus, and most women's own immunity can kill the HPV virus, so most women are only transient carriers. There are a very small number of women with weak immunity whose immunity is unable to defeat the HPV virus, so they eventually develop cervical cancer.

If the cervical cancer screening HPV is positive and TCT is negative, the patient can have a follow-up examination every few months. In most cases, a positive HPV will turn negative. 60% to 70% of women's SP can turn negative within a year. If it is positive for two consecutive years, a pathological biopsy must be performed to finally confirm whether it is cervical cancer.
