What are the skin care taboos for pregnant women?

Love of beauty is a woman's nature. Most women have the habit of taking care of their skin in their daily lives, especially after pregnancy. Due to the influence of hormones in the body after pregnancy, the skin of many pregnant mothers becomes worse. Some pregnant mothers also have many pregnancy spots on their faces, so they need to take good care of themselves. However, there are some taboos when pregnant women take care of their skin, and some skin care cosmetics cannot be used.

Be careful when doing beauty projects

1. Massage

Going to a beauty salon for a massage during pregnancy can soothe your body and mind, but you must choose the masseur carefully. Please note that the strength, technique, and position of massage during pregnancy are very important, and do not massage the abdomen, otherwise it will harm the health of the pregnant woman and fetus.

2. Aromatherapy

Doctors often do not recommend aromatherapy beauty treatments for pregnant women because the essential oils in aromatherapy products are not suitable for expectant mothers. Aromatherapy products such as lemon, dahlia, mint, sandalwood, etc. should be used after 12 weeks of pregnancy; lavender, rose, jasmine, etc. should be used after 16 weeks of pregnancy.

3. Hair Removal

During pregnancy, the levels of estrogen and progesterone in women's bodies are much higher than usual, so hair grows very quickly. The depilatory creams on the market contain chemical ingredients and are not recommended for pregnant women. Although the electro-needle hair removal in beauty salons does not contain any chemical ingredients, the electric current stimulation can still affect the fetus. If you want to remove hair during pregnancy, it is best to use an epilator to remove hair without any force, which will cause minimal damage.

Avoid using cosmetics

1. Lipstick

Lipstick contains oils, fragrances and dyes. General lip balms for pregnancy use natural oils, while lipstick mostly uses lanolin. Lanolin is made from wool washing liquid and has a strong adsorption capacity for dust and bacteria in the air. Secondly, the dyes in lipstick generally contain heavy metals, which can flow into the abdomen with the expectant mother's saliva and harm the baby.

2. Perfume

Perfume contains fragrance, and excessive use by pregnant women may cause miscarriage. Fragrance ingredients can also easily pass to the baby through breast milk. Therefore, pregnant women should not use perfume.

3. Hair dye

Expectant mothers should not dye or perm their hair because the ingredients in hair dyes can easily cause skin allergies. What's more serious is that they may cause abnormal mutations in cell chromosomes, resulting in deformed babies.

4. Nail polish

Nail polish generally has a very pungent smell because it contains a substance called "phthalate". Once this substance is absorbed by pregnant women, it can easily cause miscarriage and fetal malformations.
