What does a normal vaginal opening look like?

The vagina is a female reproductive organ. The female reproductive organ is relatively complex and includes multiple tissues and organs. For women, their reproductive organs are very different from those of men. Understanding the organizational structure of women's reproductive organs can help to better prevent some gynecological diseases, especially for the vaginal opening. Let's take a look at what a normal vaginal opening looks like.

What does a normal vaginal opening look like?

The female external genitalia is also called the vulva. The mons pubis is a soft mass of fatty tissue that forms a raised area above the pubic bone and is covered by the epidermis and pubic hair.

1. The labia majora (labia majora) starts from the mons pubis and ends at the bottom of the vaginal opening; it contains the epidermis, oil glands, adipose tissue, nerve endings, and is covered by pubic hair. The two labia majora are usually tightly connected together, covering the urethral opening and vaginal opening. The labia majora will only open when the woman is sexually aroused or spreads her legs.

2. The labia minora (inner labia) start from the clitoris and end at the bottom of the vaginal opening. The labia minora are thinner and have no pubic hair or fat tissue, but have more nerve endings than the labia majora. The labia minora are also called the inner labia, which may also be on top of the outer labia. The color of the labia minora may be different for each woman (pink, red, purple, and blue are all normal), and the color may also change due to sexual desire.

3. The clitoris is located at the top of the connection between the labia minora and can be seen when the foreskin is stretched open. The clitoris cannot be fully seen because it is covered by the labia majora and extends deep into the pubic bone (before birth, the clitoris and penis are made of exactly the same tissue, but due to hormones, they have different appearances in men and women). The clitoris is more sensitive to external stimuli like the penis and will become slightly erect when there is sexual desire. However, it cannot excrete urine out of the body like the penis. The function of the clitoris is generally believed to be to receive and concentrate sexual stimulation.

4. A very small opening under the clitoris is the urethral opening, and below that is the vaginal opening.

5. Below the vaginal opening, where the labia join is the flat, hairless perineum, and below that is the anus. The entire female genitals can arouse sexual desire.

6. The G-spot is a small piece of tissue (about the size and shape of a bean), about two inches, located on the front wall of the vagina. This area is very sensitive to sexual stimulation, and when enlarged, it is about the size of a U.S. dime.

How women can maintain their vagina

1. The urethral opening and the vaginal opening are very close, so most women often suffer from urethral infections after sexual intercourse. They should pay attention to urination prevention.

2. In order to avoid urethral or vaginal infections, women should wipe from front to back with toilet paper after defecation to avoid feces transferring to the urethral or vaginal opening and causing infection.

3. A normal vagina can clean itself and direct secretions to the vulva. Therefore, it is very necessary for most women to clean the vulva carefully every day.

4. Carrying a water cup with you can always remind women to drink more water, because drinking more water can help the body's metabolism and dilute urine and vaginal secretions. The urine produced when water enters the body can also take away bacteria from the vulva and urethra, which is very beneficial for preventing diseases such as vaginitis and urinary tract infections. It is best to choose a high-quality, stainless steel cup to avoid rust that may cause harm to the human body.
