What does a girl's egg look like?

Ovum is a substance discharged from the female body, and it is also an indispensable substance for combining into a fertilized egg. For female friends, eggs are very important in the body, because eggs do not exist in as large quantities as sperms. The female body only releases one egg every month. The quality of the egg is also an important factor affecting the quality of the fertilized egg. At this time, many women will also wonder what the egg looks like?

What are eggs like?

Structurally, the egg discharged from the mature follicle is about 20 mm in size and is surrounded by many granulosa cells. These granulosa cells are arranged radially in the outermost layer of the egg cell, so it is also called the radiate corona. Inward, there are the zona pellucida, the extravitelline cavity, and the vitelline membrane.

Eggs are produced in the female reproductive organ, the ovaries. When a woman is born, there are 100,000 to 500,000 primary follicles in each ovary. They are surrounded by a layer of primordial follicle cells, also known as granulosa cells, and a layer of basement membrane outside them. These primordial follicles grow in batches every moment throughout a woman's life, but more than 99% of them wither and degenerate into atretic follicles shortly after they begin to develop. During the reproductive period, only a few hundred follicles fully mature and release mature eggs.

During the reproductive period, there is usually a mature follicle that grows to a diameter of 18-25mm in about a month. Ovulation occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle, about fourteen days before the next menstruation. The eggs are discharged alternately from the two ovaries or continuously from one side. The egg can survive for 1-2 days after ovulation. Once it combines with sperm during this period, it will create a new life. If it does not combine with sperm, the egg will degenerate and disintegrate and lose its ability to be fertilized.

What does it feel like when the egg is released?

Ovulation is a normal phenomenon in sexually mature women. The mature egg is discharged from the surface of the ovary and breaks through the follicle that wraps the surface of the egg. When the egg is discharged, a small amount of fluid in the follicle will flow into the lowest part of the pelvic cavity; sometimes there will be a small amount of bleeding at the site where the ovarian egg is discharged. Therefore, some women may feel a slight feeling of falling in the anus, and may also feel slight pain in one side of the lower abdomen. If you pay close attention, the same symptoms will appear in the other lower abdomen next month, and the pain will disappear after about a few hours.

In addition, the amount of secretions increases significantly during ovulation, and is watery, transparent and clear. Women will feel their vulva is wet and slippery, and when wiping with toilet paper, there will be egg white-like strips of mucus.
