The difference between medical abortion and surgical abortion

There is naturally a certain difference between medical abortion and surgical abortion. Many people find out that they are pregnant in the early stages and can use medical abortion to avoid surgery. After all, surgical abortion itself has certain risks, and older pregnant women are not suitable for surgical abortion, otherwise their bodies will be damaged and even their future fertility will be affected.

Medical abortion, also known as drug abortion, refers to the use of Mifepristone tablets plus misoprostol to terminate early pregnancy. In recent years, it has been widely used in clinical practice and is a very popular drug for preventing early pregnancy. It can achieve artificial abortion in the early stages of pregnancy without the need for surgery, but by injection or medication. The use of drugs to terminate pregnancy and medical abortion is the latest development in the past 20 years. Currently, the commonly used drugs are mifepristone tablets (Ru 486) and prostaglandins. The former causes degeneration and necrosis of the uterine decidua and softening of the cervix, while the latter causes uterine contraction and promotes the expulsion of the embryo.

1. Precautions after medical abortion

⒈ After the tissue is discharged, you need to stay in the hospital for observation for 1 hour. If the vaginal bleeding is not too much, you can go home and rest.

⒉ Get adequate rest within 2 weeks after miscarriage, eat nutritious food, and avoid heavy physical labor.

⒊ Pay attention to the cleanliness of the perineum. Avoid bathing and sexual intercourse when vaginal bleeding has not stopped.

⒋ In the first 2 to 3 days after abortion, the amount of vaginal bleeding is generally equivalent to or slightly more than the menstrual amount. If the amount of vaginal bleeding is heavy or persistent, seek medical attention promptly.

⒌ Patients with no tissue discharge should be observed for 2 weeks after medication, and attention should be paid to whether there is any tissue discharge during defecation and urination. Weekly urine pregnancy tests.

⒍Ovulation may resume soon after miscarriage, so contraceptive measures should be taken to avoid pregnancy again.

2. Causes and treatment of bleeding after medical abortion

Bleeding after medical abortion usually lasts 1-3 weeks. The general symptoms are: bleeding less and less every day. If bleeding decreases and then increases, or does not decrease at all, or gradually increases, it is abnormal. Common causes are as follows:

⒈ Incomplete abortion: The main cause of bleeding after medical abortion, which can generally be determined through gynecological examination and B-ultrasound

⒉ Infection after medical abortion: If the B-ultrasound determines that there is no residue in the uterus, then intrauterine infection should be considered, because the blood from abortion is a good culture medium for bacteria. If the condition is serious, there will be tenderness in the uterus during gynecological examination, and there will be fever, etc.

⒊ Poor blood coagulation function: Some people are prone to bruises or bulges after slight contact or clamping. This may be because the person’s blood coagulation function is not very good. During medical abortion or surgical abortion, there may be heavy bleeding or prolonged bleeding.

Treatment: Because there are many reasons, it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination before making a judgment.
