What to do if the radiography is not smooth

Angiography is actually a method of examination that doctors can use to determine the severity of the patient's condition. So, what should we do if the angiography is not smooth? In fact, this situation is still rare, but if the angiography is not smooth, there may still be some blockage. At this time, you can listen to the doctor's advice. At the same time, other examinations may be needed to confirm the condition.

Contrast examination: For structures or organs that lack natural contrast, substances with higher or lower density than the structure or organ can be introduced into the organ or shared gap to produce contrast for visualization. This is a contrast examination. The introduced substance is called a contrast agent or contrast medium. Most contrast agents contain iodine, so people who are allergic to iodine should be careful.

Contrast imaging is a method of introducing a substance with a higher or lower density than that of the human body into the part to be examined in the human body, artificially creating a density difference in the part to be examined to form a contrast and achieve the purpose of diagnosis. Before the angiography examination, the patient needs to make necessary preparations.

One type is gases that are easily permeable to X-rays; the other type is substances that are not easily permeable to X-rays, such as iodine and barium sulfate. Contrast agents can be introduced into the human body through different routes: oral, intravenous, and direct injection after intubation. This depends on the different examination purposes and the different types of contrast agents used.

There are many types of contrast examinations, which can be divided into: barium enema examination, gastrointestinal barium meal examination, intravenous urography, hysterosalpingography, percutaneous puncture cholangiography, heart and artery angiography. In addition, bronchography and oral cholecystography are basically no longer used.

Hysterosalpingography

1. The patient takes the lithotomy position, routinely disinfects the vulva and vagina, lays a sterile towel, and checks the position and size of the uterus.

2. Use a vaginal speculum to dilate the vagina, fully expose the cervix, and disinfect the cervix and vaginal vault again.

3. If a metal catheter is used, fill the catheter with contrast agent, expel the air, and then insert the catheter into the cervix, blocking the external cervical opening to prevent the iodine contrast agent from overflowing. Observe the flow of contrast agent through the uterine cavity and fallopian tube under X-ray fluoroscopy and take films.
