Irregular menstruation

Irregular menstruation

Irregular menstruation is a physical disease that many women encounter. Irregular menstruation may be caused by endocrine disorders or low estrogen secretion in the body. Irregular menstruation is very harmful to physical health and can easily lead to some intrauterine diseases. It can be treated by the cause or by taking some medications.

How to treat irregular menstruation?

Menstruation is the periodic shedding or bleeding of the endometrium accompanied by cyclical changes in the ovaries. Normal menstruation is cyclical and self-limited. The first day of bleeding is the beginning of the menstrual cycle. The interval between the first days of two menstrual periods is the duration of each menstrual period in a menstrual cycle. The total amount of blood loss in one menstrual period is the menstrual volume. A normal menstrual cycle is 21 to 35 days, with an average of 28 days. The menstrual period is generally 2 to 8 days, with an average of 4 to 6 days. The normal range of menstrual volume is 20 to 60 ml. If the menstrual cycle is less than 21 days or about 35 days, it is abnormal. If the menstrual period is less than 2 days but greater than 8 days, it is also abnormal. If the menstrual volume is less than 20 ml but greater than 80 ml, it is considered abnormal.

If there are abnormalities in the menstrual cycle, menstrual volume and menstrual period, it is called irregular menstruation. First, a pelvic color ultrasound examination should be performed to understand whether there are space-occupying lesions in the uterus or endometrium or other lesions in the pelvic cavity that affect ovarian function.

If space-occupying lesions and endometrial conditions are excluded and functional menstrual disorder is considered, hormones can be given to adjust the menstrual disorder according to the specific type of menstrual disorder.

If the menstrual cycle or menstrual period lasts for a long time and endometrial lesions cannot be ruled out, hysteroscopy should be performed. If necessary, abnormal endometrial lesions can be removed and curettage can be performed under hysteroscopy. The next treatment plan can be decided based on the postoperative pathological results.

Irregular menstruation, also known as menstrual disorders, is a common gynecological disease, manifested as abnormal menstrual cycle or bleeding volume, which may be accompanied by abdominal pain and systemic symptoms before and during menstruation. The cause may be organic disease or functional disorder. In terms of treatment: First, treatment should be targeted at the cause of the disease. For pathological causes, corresponding treatment should be carried out according to the specific cause. Second, stop bleeding and correct anemia. If it is caused by prolonged menstruation and heavy menstrual flow, in addition to general hemostatic measures, hormones or curettage may be used to stop bleeding, and oral blood-tonifying drugs or infusion treatment may be given. Third, adjust the cycle. You can use estrogen and progesterone alone or in combination for cyclical treatment, or you can use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment. Fourth, infertility. If anovulation is caused by dysfunction of one or more links in the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis, it is also the pathological basis of menstrual disorders and one of the causes of infertility.
