Pregnancy and diarrhea

Pregnancy and diarrhea

There may be many symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy, such as increased vaginal discharge, vomiting, and drowsiness. Diarrhea during pregnancy is an abnormal physiological manifestation, usually due to intestinal infection. We need to start with our diet to adjust it. Diarrhea can cause miscarriage in pregnant women, so pregnant women need to go to the hospital for examination and pay more attention to rest to avoid dehydration.

Is it normal to have diarrhea during pregnancy?

The most common cause of diarrhea in pregnant women is intestinal infection. The pathogenic microorganisms include Salmonella, Shigella, viruses and protozoa. In summer, diarrhea should also be considered as food poisoning. There is another point that needs to be reminded and should be taken seriously. Diarrhea in pregnant women should also consider the possibility of miscarriage or premature birth.

Pregnancy itself rarely causes diarrhea, nor does it make existing diarrhea worse, but diarrhea is a danger signal for pregnancy, indicating the possibility of miscarriage or premature birth, so it should not be taken lightly. The most common cause of diarrhea in pregnant women is infection. The most common pathogens include Salmonella, Shigella dysenteriae, Campylobacter and viruses. Food poisoning or viral infections in other parts of the body can also cause diarrhea in pregnant women.

1. Causes of infection: bacteria and viruses infect the digestive tract.

2. Dietary reasons: eating rough, spoiled food and bad eating habits, or caused by food allergies such as seafood.

3. Causes of combined other chronic diseases: such as thyroid disease, tuberculosis, colitis, etc.

Tips for diarrhea during pregnancy

Diarrhea during pregnancy refers to diarrhea in pregnant women, which can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance in pregnant mothers, affect the absorption of nutrients, affect the growth and development of the fetus, and in severe cases can cause miscarriage or premature birth.

Avoid diarrhea in late pregnancy

The burden on the pregnant mother's organs is significantly increased at this time. Diarrhea can easily "make the situation worse", further increasing the burden on the heart, kidneys and other organs. In mild cases, it can induce premature birth, and in severe cases, it can endanger life.

1. Some pregnant mothers have "lactose intolerance" due to lack of lactase in their intestines, so they should not drink milk powder.

2. Pregnant mothers with recurrent diarrhea should pay attention to check whether they have other chronic diseases, such as thyroid disease, tuberculosis, colitis, etc.

3. Drinking "chicken soup" or "bone soup" that contains too much fat can also easily cause diarrhea.

4. If diarrhea is suspected to be caused by food allergies, pregnant mothers should find out the allergic food as soon as possible and avoid eating it again.

5. Keep a happy mood. Excessive tension can also cause diarrhea.
