Causes of labia minora deformity

Labia minora deformity refers to the presence of some abnormalities in the labia minora, which is also a common problem among women. Labia minora deformity has a great impact on the image of women's private parts. If the deformity is too serious, it may even have a certain impact on the health of women's reproductive and urinary systems. Below, we will introduce you to the relevant knowledge about labia minora deformity in detail!

1. Causes of labia minora deformity

Enlarged labia minora can be congenital or acquired. Acquired enlargement of the labia minora is mostly caused by long-term local chronic irritation or continuous friction, such as female vaginitis and vulvitis. Due to long-term stimulation of inflammatory secretions, the skin and mucous membrane of the labia minora chronically proliferate and hypertrophy, the local skin and mucous membrane become rough, and the pigmentation becomes heavier. Some people who ride bicycles or motorcycles for a long time may also suffer from hypertrophy of the labia minora due to long-term friction and compression of the local area.

Enlarged labia minora are not only unsightly in appearance, but also cause psychological disorders in some patients and bring many inconveniences to patients' lives. For example, enlarged labia minora may cause discomfort due to local compression and friction when exercising, walking, cycling or sitting for a long time. Or during menstruation, there may be pain due to friction from sanitary napkins. Some patients may experience obstruction or pain during sexual intercourse, and some patients may develop local ulcers and suffer unbearable pain. Therefore, when labia minora hypertrophy affects normal life, surgical treatment should be performed.

2. Indications for labiaplasty

1. If the labia minora is too large or too long and unsightly, you can trim it to be smaller, shorter and thinner. There are many ways to do this and it is not difficult.

2. If the two sides are obviously asymmetrical in size, you can reduce the larger side, but it is not recommended to enlarge the smaller side because it is more troublesome and may not necessarily achieve symmetry between the two sides.

3. Surgical steps of labiaplasty

1. Use a toothpick dipped in gentian violet to draw the surgical design line on both sides of the labia minora;

2. Three stitches are placed parallel to the longitudinal axis of the labia minora at the root of the labia minora to reduce intraoperative bleeding and postoperative hematoma formation;

3. Trim the enlarged labia minora;

5. Suture the incision;

6. Insert a urinary catheter, cover the wound with a piece of chlorhexidine gauze, and apply sterile gauze externally.

7. Local infiltration anesthesia: Local anesthetics are injected in layers along the surgical incision line. The local anesthetic is diffused by the tension of the drug solution, infiltrated into the tissue, and anesthetized and blocked the nerve endings in the tissue to achieve the purpose of anesthesia.
