What to do and what to eat for excessive menstruation

In our lives, many women have irregular menstruation. In fact, there are many aspects of abnormal menstruation. Some women may feel abdominal pain during menstruation, and some women may have less menstrual flow. No matter what the reason is, it may affect women's future fertility. So women should still regulate their bodies. So what should women eat when they have excessive menstruation?

What is the cause of excessive menstruation?

1. Due to excessive secretion of ovarian estrogen, long-term stimulation of the endometrium causes it to proliferate beyond the normal thickness, resulting in increased bleeding during shedding, such as anovulatory functional uterine bleeding.

2. Excessive menstrual flow in women may be caused by uterine fibroids. Endometrial bleeding is the main symptom of uterine fibroids, but in the vast majority of patients, endometrial bleeding often manifests as periodic increased menstrual bleeding and irregular menstruation.

Be alert if your menstrual periods suddenly become irregular or if you experience any of the following:

Heavy menstrual bleeding, often with prolonged menstruation;

Shortened menstrual cycle and heavy menstrual flow;

Irregular bleeding, loss of normal menstrual periodicity, varying amounts of menstrual flow, prolonged bleeding, and prolonged duration.

3. Inflammation of reproductive organs

If there is heavy vaginal bleeding accompanied by lower abdominal or lower back pain, increased vaginal discharge, abnormal color or odor, fever, and frequent and painful urination, you should consider a reproductive organ infection.

4. Cervical hypertrophy

Cervical hypertrophy is a type of chronic cervicitis. The main symptoms include heavy menstruation, purulent leucorrhea, dysmenorrhea, pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area, or frequent urination, urgency, pain, and bleeding during sexual intercourse. Severe cases can cause endometritis, salpingo-oophoritis, and fallopian tube adhesions, leading to infertility and increasing the risk of cervical cancer.

5. Blood diseases

If there is an abnormality in the coagulation system, for example, hemophilia patients who are born with a lack of a certain coagulation factor, have heavy menstrual flow and prolonged bleeding because their blood does not easily coagulate. If you have been facing the problem of heavy menstruation for a long time and no cause can be found after examination by an obstetrician and gynecologist, you should consider undergoing a detailed blood test to see if you have a blood disease.

If the menstrual cycle is abnormal, organic diseases such as gynecological tumors need to be ruled out. If a woman is diagnosed by Chinese medicine to have a normal menstrual cycle, but excessive menstrual flow or a significantly greater amount than before, the main causes are blood heat, qi deficiency, and blood stasis.
