What causes breast milk to become cold?

Nowadays, there are many ways to feed babies, and the best of them is breastfeeding. Because breastfeeding can fully ensure the child's nutrition and strengthen the bond between mother and child, in short, there are many benefits. However, if many mothers do not take proper care of their diet or there is a temperature difference, their breast milk will become cold. So, what to do if breast milk is cold?

1. Reasons why breast milk is cold

1. Temperature difference

The temperature of breast milk is consistent with human body temperature, 37°C, but when it is squeezed out and exchanged with the outside temperature to test the temperature, it will feel cold. This is because the coldness in the air will affect the temperature of the milk. Secondly, everyone's perception of temperature will also be different.

2. Improper care

If the mother wears fewer clothes, or washes her hands and face with cold water, even though the cold water does not enter the mouth and stomach, it will also affect the milk and make the milk cold. So you must keep warm.

2. How to improve cold breast milk

1. Water-blocking heating method

If you are refrigerating breast milk, you can soak the breast milk container in warm water, just like heating wine in winter, so that the breast milk can fully absorb the heat in the water and become warm. While soaking, shake the container from time to time to ensure that the breast milk is heated evenly. If it is frozen breast milk, it should be thawed by soaking in cold water first, and then warmed up in water like refrigerated breast milk.

2. Use a milk warmer to heat

Mothers who pump breast milk and want to save time and energy may wish to prepare a special milk warmer for themselves. Set the temperature of the milk warmer to 40℃ and heat the breast milk in water.

Note: If you freeze your breast milk, it may separate into layers, which is normal. Just shake it gently to mix it well before feeding it to your baby.

3. How to breastfeed

The mother should completely relax herself, sit or lie in a comfortable position, and use pillows or quilts to support herself or the baby when breastfeeding. Let the baby approach the mother, with his face facing the mother's breast and his nose facing the nipple. The baby's head, neck and body are in a straight line, and the baby's belly is close to the mother's belly. If it is a newborn, the mother should support the baby's head, shoulders and buttocks.

The mother can hold the breast with her hands and gently touch the baby's upper lip. When the baby's mouth opens wide, she can quickly hold the baby close to the breast (not moving the mother's body) and let the baby hold the areola and nipple at the same time, rather than just the nipple.
