24 weeks pregnant stomach pain

24 weeks pregnant stomach pain

The 24th week of pregnancy is also a very critical period, because every day during pregnancy is very important. If any medical problems occur, timely examination and treatment are required to avoid affecting the fetus. The belly of a pregnant woman is very important, but sometimes there will often be some painful symptoms, which is quite stressful because people don’t understand what is happening inside the body, so they should go to the hospital for specific examinations. So what causes stomach pain at 24 weeks of pregnancy?

24 weeks pregnant, stomach pain

1. Physiological abdominal pain in the second trimester. In the second trimester (the second trimester refers to the period from the thirteenth to the twenty-seventh week of pregnancy), the expectant mother's belly circumference will increase rapidly. At this time, the skin on the abdomen will feel tight. If the expectant mother has the habit of outdoor activities, she will find that her belly will have a dull pulling pain at this stage. This is a normal physiological abdominal pain phenomenon. In the second trimester, some expectant mothers may feel dull pain in the lower end of their ribs due to stimulation from the enlarged uterus. As the uterus gradually enlarges, the expectant mother's pubic symphysis may relax and separate, which can also cause abdominal pain in the second trimester.

The abdominal pain in this type of situation is also normal physiological abdominal pain. Couples are allowed to have sex during the second trimester of pregnancy. Some couples use too much force during sex and may feel abdominal pain afterwards. This type of abdominal pain is also normal physiological abdominal pain

2. Pathological abdominal pain. Abdominal pain at 24 weeks of pregnancy may also be caused by hiatal hernia and reflux esophagitis in pregnant women. There is a hiatus in the septum of the human body, through which the esophagus is connected to the stomach. The full name of this hiatus is esophageal hiatus. In the second trimester, due to the rapid enlargement of the uterus, the pressure in the abdominal cavity will increase rapidly. The strong pressure will cause the hiatus to widen, and the lower end of the stomach may be squeezed into the chest cavity. This symptom is medically called hiatal hernia. After the lower end of the stomach is squeezed into the chest cavity, the upper opening of the stomach will relax. At this time, the gastric acid, food, gas, etc. in the stomach will reflux into the esophagus or cavity. The gastric acid will irritate the esophageal mucosa of the pregnant woman at this time. At this time, expectant mothers who are 24 weeks pregnant will be prone to abdominal pain.
