There are small particles on the cervix

If you find a lot of small particles growing in your cervix, you should go for a gynecological examination. This is mostly caused by cervicitis. After the disease progresses, patients will often feel that their vaginal discharge has increased, and sometimes they will bleed during sexual intercourse. These symptoms indicate that they have a gynecological disease.

Chronic cervicitis is a chronic erosive or proliferative inflammation of the cervix, which is often transformed from acute cervicitis and may not have obvious acute symptoms. Chronic cervicitis is a common and frequently occurring disease in clinic. Its incidence rate increases obviously with age and it is extremely rare in unmarried women. It is mainly caused by the stimulation of the cervix by menstruation and sexual life. It is equivalent to the category of "leucorrhea" in traditional Chinese medicine.

Main symptoms

The main symptom of chronic cervicitis is increased vaginal discharge. The leucorrhea is milky white and mucous, sometimes yellow or pus-like. When accompanied by polyp formation, bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse may occur. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity, there may be lumbar pain, lower abdominal distension and dysmenorrhea. These symptoms worsen before and after menstruation, bowel movements, and sexual intercourse. Sometimes it is accompanied by frequent urination, difficulty urinating, irregular menstruation, infertility, etc. Cervical erosion is closely related to cervical cancer. The incidence of cervical cancer in patients with cervical erosion is much higher than that in patients without cervical erosion, so active treatment should be given when suffering from cervical erosion.

Chronic cervicitis is generally a continuation of acute infection and is transformed from acute cervicitis. Because the cervical glands have many branches and the endocervical canal has many folds, the infection is not easy to be completely eliminated, thus forming a chronic inflammation. It is more common after delivery, miscarriage or surgical injury to the cervix. Some patients have no symptoms of acute cervicitis and directly develop chronic cervicitis.

The pathogens of chronic cervicitis are mainly Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli and anaerobic bacteria. In chronic inflammation, the amount of leucorrhea increases. Some are light yellow like soy milk, some are milky white and mucous, some are yellow like pus, and some are bloody or bleed after sexual intercourse. If the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity, it will cause symptoms such as lower abdominal distension, lumbar pain and dysmenorrhea.

Diagnostic points

The clinical manifestations are increased and sticky leucorrhea, or purulent or bloody discharge. Clinically it is divided into cervical erosion (mild, moderate, severe erosion), cervical polyps and cervical glandular follicular cysts. Among them, cervical erosion is the most common. Vaginal discharge may increase significantly, and may be yellow, red, or purulent with a fishy odor, or may be accompanied by pain during intercourse, vaginal bleeding after intercourse, lower abdominal pain, and in severe cases, contact bleeding and infertility. This disease can be diagnosed by combining visual observation with a vaginal endoscope. It often occurs at the same time as vaginitis and adnexitis. In addition, a cervical smear or biopsy should be performed to rule out malignant lesions.
