What to do if you have stomach bloating and indigestion during pregnancy

Pregnant women may feel uncomfortable in their stomachs during the entire pregnancy period, and they need to supplement a lot of nutrients during pregnancy, so they may also feel bloating and indigestion. For pregnant women, such a situation is not a good phenomenon, so it must be mediated in time, which will help the fetus absorb nutrients. So what should I do if I feel bloated and indigestion during pregnancy?

Symptoms of stomach bloating

Gastric bloating refers to a feeling of fullness and pressure in the upper abdomen. Sometimes, you may find that the stomach is bulging outwards, bloating, or even continuous farting, which may be caused by gastric bloating. In severe cases, it may be accompanied by pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Why do pregnant women experience stomach bloating?

After pregnancy, due to some changes in the body, pregnant women often experience indigestion symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. This is because the progesterone content in the pregnant woman's body increases. Due to the effect of progesterone, gastrointestinal motility is weakened, gastric acid secretion is reduced, and the gradually enlarging uterus compresses the gastrointestinal tract, hindering digestive activity.

By slowing down the emptying of the stomach, the food accumulated in the stomach will continue to exert pressure on the stomach wall. At the same time, excessive distribution of food in the stomach will produce a large amount of gas, which will increase the pressure in the stomach and cause bloating.

How to relieve stomach bloating during pregnancy?

1. Pay attention to diet and choose light and delicious foods, especially fresh vegetables and fruits, such as radishes, onions, etc. Do not eat greasy or hard, indigestible fried foods. Tobacco, alcohol and strong spicy condiments should also be prohibited. You can eat small meals frequently, 5 to 6 meals a day is appropriate; you should also separate dry and liquid foods, and drink soup and water between meals.

2. Pregnant women should maintain a good mood and avoid unpleasant things, because any adverse mental stimulation can cause indigestion. It is best for pregnant women to listen to more music or watch more art to make themselves happy.

3. In order to increase appetite, it is essential for pregnant women to maintain proper activities, such as taking a walk every day and doing some work and housework within their ability, which can not only improve digestion, but also be beneficial to the baby's growth and development.
