How many days is a period delayed?

Menstruation is a relatively important period for women, because during this period, women's hormones will undergo certain changes, and of course their physical constitution will be relatively weak, so during menstruation, women must do relevant care work. Of course, menstruation can be advanced or delayed, so how many days of delay is considered normal? This will be introduced in detail below!

1. Reasons for delayed menstruation

In fact, there are many reasons for delayed menstruation, including eating raw, cold or overly cold foods without paying attention, which can cause the endometrium to get cold and lead to unstable shedding time, which can easily lead to menstrual disorders or even dysmenorrhea.

2. How long is the normal delay of menstruation?

Generally, it is normal for menstruation to be delayed by about a week. If it is delayed for 7 days and still not comes, you may be pregnant or have irregular menstruation. Irregular menstruation refers to menstrual changes caused by various reasons, including the early or delayed age of menarche, changes in cycle, period and menstrual volume, as well as some abnormal symptoms before and after menstruation. This phenomenon is collectively called irregular menstruation, which is one of the most common symptoms of gynecological diseases.

Types of delayed menstruation

There are two main reasons for irregular menstruation:

1. Caused by neuroendocrine dysfunction: mainly due to unstable or defective function of the lower hindbrain - ovarian axis, that is, menstrual disease.

2. Caused by organic diseases or drugs, including local inflammation, tumors and developmental abnormalities, malnutrition of reproductive organs; intracranial diseases; other endocrine dysfunctions such as thyroid and adrenal cortex dysfunction, diabetes, Sheehan's disease, liver diseases; blood diseases, etc. Menstrual irregularities may occur in women who use drugs to treat mental illnesses, endocrine preparations, or intrauterine devices for contraception. Certain occupations, such as long-distance runners, are prone to amenorrhea. In addition, some abnormal bleeding during pregnancy is often mistaken for menstrual irregularities. In clinical diagnosis of neuroendocrine dysfunctional menstrual disorders, the above-mentioned organic causes must be excluded.
