No sex a few days before hysteroscopy

No sex a few days before hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a method of examining female gynecological diseases. It can also treat various gynecological diseases through surgery. However, there are many precautions before doing a hysteroscopy. Men and women should avoid having sex the day before the examination, because the uterus will vibrate after sex, which will affect the results of the examination. So why can't you have sex a few days before a hysteroscopy?

No sexual intercourse before hysteroscopy. It is best not to have sex within 24 hours before the examination to avoid affecting the examination results. Hysteroscopy is a new, minimally invasive gynecological diagnosis and treatment technology. It is a fiber-light endoscope used for intrauterine examination and treatment, including a hysteroscope, an energy system, a light system, a perfusion system and an imaging system. It uses the front part of the scope to enter the uterine cavity, which has a magnifying effect on the observed area, and has become the preferred examination method for gynecological hemorrhagic diseases and intrauterine lesions with its intuitive and accurate nature. Hysteroscopy can not only determine the location, size, appearance and range of the lesion, but also make a detailed observation of the tissue structure on the surface of the lesion, and obtain samples or locate the curettage under direct vision, which greatly improves the accuracy of diagnosis of intrauterine diseases, and updates, develops and makes up for the shortcomings of traditional diagnosis and treatment methods.

Hysteroscopy precautions

Things to note before the inspection:

1) Hysteroscopy is generally best performed within 3-7 days after the end of menstruation. Because the endometrium is thin, with less mucus and bleeding during this period, uterine cavity lesions are easy to see. In addition, it is not easy for the overly thick endometrium to pass through the fallopian tube into the abdominal cavity.

2) Sexual intercourse is prohibited 3 days after menstruation or before surgery.

3) If necessary, the doctor will remind you to hold your urine before the operation to facilitate B-ultrasound monitoring during the operation.

4) The following preoperative examinations can be performed as needed: infectious disease examination (hepatitis B surface antigen, HIVHCVRPR), liver function, kidney function, electrocardiogram, blood and urine routine tests, four coagulation tests, leucorrhea routine tests, etc.

5) Blood pressure, pulse, and body temperature need to be measured before surgery to understand the heart and lung condition and vaginal cleanliness.

6) Examination should not be performed during pregnancy to avoid adverse consequences.

7) If uterine cancer has been confirmed, it is not advisable to check it to avoid the spread of cancer cells.

8) It is not advisable to check when there is acute genital inflammation to prevent the spread of inflammation.

9) Generally, hysteroscopy should not be performed when the lesion is active or bleeding. Unless medically necessary.

Things to note after hysteroscopy:

1) There may be a small amount of bloody vaginal discharge within 2-7 days after the examination, but there is no need to worry too much.

2) Keep the perineum clean after hysteroscopy and avoid sexual intercourse or bathing within two weeks to prevent infection. Because the cervix has not yet closed tightly during this period, bacteria can easily invade. Pay attention to prevent infection.

3) After the examination, antibiotics will be given to prevent infection if necessary, and the primary disease will be treated.
