Is pelvic floor rehabilitation painful?

But when they get out of bed and prepare to take care of their children or participate in social activities, they find that sometimes they sneeze, laugh, or even bend down to pick up something, which will cause urine to flow out.

Many women who have just given birth have encountered this problem, which is actually caused by pelvic floor dysfunction.

The disease has a high incidence rate, affecting 1 in 3 adult women.

There are more than 200 million women in China suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction, 1/5 of postpartum women suffer from postpartum urinary incontinence, and 78% of women who have given birth suffer from sexual dissatisfaction due to vaginal relaxation.

This disease has become one of the five common chronic diseases that threaten women's health.

Hesitant to speak, unable to start, or even having "social cancer"... ? That’s right, today we’re going to talk about the pelvic floor muscles.

What are the pelvic floor muscles

The pelvic floor is a magical tissue. It supports life like a hammock and also carries a happy and sexual life.

The pelvic floor muscles are not one muscle, but a group of muscles that close the pelvic floor.

It is composed of a pair of levator ani muscles and a pair of coccygeal muscles. This muscle group is like a "hanging net". The urethra, bladder, vagina, uterus, rectum and other organs are tightly suspended by this "net".

When the pelvic muscles function normally, this network supports the pelvic organs by resisting increased abdominal pressure through the contraction and tension of these structures.

What is the function of the pelvic floor muscles?

The pelvic floor muscles play an important role in women's sexual life: they hold up and support organs such as the bladder, uterus, and rectum, and have multiple physiological functions such as controlling urination, defecation, and maintaining vaginal tightness.

If the pelvic floor muscles are strong and elastic enough, these abdominal organs can be well protected.

How important are the pelvic floor muscles to women?

For women, the pelvic floor muscles should have three functions: entry, exit, and support.

Progress: The main muscles involved in female sexual response are the levator ani muscles and perineum muscles.

Out: "Out" includes two aspects. First, when urinating or defecating, the internal sphincter of the pelvic floor muscles will relax reflexively, which is conducive to excretion, and when the abdominal pressure increases, it can hold and prevent incontinence.

Second, during pregnancy and childbirth, the body secretes relaxin, which relaxes the pelvic floor muscles and facilitates the delivery of the fetus.

Support: The pelvic floor bears almost 70% of the body's weight, so the "supporting" role of the pelvic floor muscles is very critical.

The pelvic floor ligaments, pelvic floor muscles, perineal muscles and soft tissues together form a solid barrier that resists increased abdominal pressure and supports the pelvic organs through the contraction and tension of these structures.

Once the pelvic floor muscles are damaged, organ prolapse will occur, which is also one of the reasons for the sagging uterus and bulging of the vaginal wall after childbirth.
