Will the urethral mucosa repair itself?

Will the urethral mucosa repair itself?

Mucous membrane exists in many organs. It is an indispensable part of the tissue and its main function is to protect the stomach wall. For example, the gastric mucosa exists to prevent damage to the stomach wall. However, due to various reasons, these mucous membranes are likely to fall off, causing a series of adverse reactions. In fact, this kind of mucous membrane also exists in the urethra, so, can the urethral mucosa repair itself?

Mild urethral mucosal damage may heal on its own, but moderate to severe urethral mucosal damage or bleeding has occurred, the chances of it healing on its own are very small. For relatively minor urethral mucosal injuries, it is recommended to drink more water to flush the urethra, because the urethra itself contains some bacteria that are prone to bacterial infection. Drinking more water can prevent infection. You can temporarily refrain from sexual intercourse and wash the vulva with warm water every day to help recovery. For more serious urethral mucosal injuries, oral cephalosporin anti-inflammatory drugs are recommended.

The urethra is the tube that leads from the bladder to the outside of the body. The male urethra is slender, about 18 cm long, starting from the internal urethral opening of the bladder and ending at the external urethral opening. It passes through the prostate, membranous part and corpus cavernosum of the penis. The male urethra has both urination and ejaculation functions. The female urethra is thick and short, about 5 cm long. It starts from the internal urethra, passes through the front of the vagina, and opens into the vaginal vestibule. The male urethra has a sphincter composed of circular striated muscle in the membranous part of the urethra, called the external urethral sphincter, which is controlled by consciousness. When the female urethra passes through the urogenital diaphragm at the perineum, it is surrounded by the urethrovaginal sphincter, which is a striated muscle and is also controlled by the will.

Urinary tract infections mainly include urethritis, cystitis and pyelonephritis. Girls are more likely to get the disease than boys, especially infants and young children. Because they wear open-crotch pants, like to play, and do not pay attention to hygiene, they are easily infected. Bacteria can easily invade the urinary tract from the urethral opening and cause infection. At the same time, the ureters of infants and young children are long and curved, and their tube walls are not yet fully developed, which can easily cause urine retention, thereby facilitating the growth, retention and reproduction of bacteria in the ureters.

When the disease occurs in infants, the prominent manifestations are symptoms of systemic poisoning: sudden high fever, loss of appetite, sallow complexion, vomiting, diarrhea, and some children become listless, drowsy, irritable, and severe cases may suffer from convulsions. However, symptoms of urinary tract irritation such as urgency, frequency and pain during urination are not obvious.

When the disease occurs, infants experience urinary urgency, frequent urination, painful urination, lower abdominal pain, percussion pain in the waist and kidney area, fever, and general discomfort.
