If my mother has rheumatism, will it be inherited?

Rheumatic diseases mostly occur in middle-aged and elderly people, and once you have a rheumatic disease, it is unlikely to be cured. The key to this disease is prevention, but I believe many people don’t know how this disease is contracted. If the mother has rheumatism, will it be inherited? The hereditary nature of rheumatism is not obvious, and most of the time it is caused by acquired bad habits. The occurrence of rheumatic diseases is related to many aspects, such as excessive fatigue and excessive blood loss may lead to the occurrence of rheumatic diseases.

Is rheumatism hereditary?

All we can say is that rheumatism may be hereditary .

First of all, we must understand that rheumatism is not a simple disease, but should be said to be a group of diseases. Common ones include: rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, ankylosing spondylitis and other diseases, collectively referred to as rheumatism.

It is obvious that most of these diseases are closely related to genetic factors. For example, rheumatoid arthritis is related to genetic factors, ankylosing spondylitis has a small family clustering phenomenon, primary gout is caused by both genetic and environmental factors, etc. Therefore, it can be said that the vast majority of rheumatic diseases are related to genetics.

Just because rheumatic disease is hereditary doesn't mean you will definitely get it.

The above proves that rheumatic disease is related to genetics, but heredity only means that having this gene makes you more susceptible to the disease, and there are many inducing factors, the most important of which is environmental factors, which are very important factors leading to the disease.

In addition, it has been observed clinically that some factors can induce rheumatic disease, such as trauma, excessive fatigue, pregnancy, excessive blood loss, or after artificial abortion. These factors can lead to imbalance of qi, blood, yin and yang, and damage the body's positive energy. In addition, improper use of medication or doctor's negligence may also cause illness.

Tip: There is no scientific evidence to prove that rheumatism is hereditary

There is currently no consensus on whether rheumatism is a genetic disease, which means that there is no scientific evidence to prove that rheumatism is hereditary, and it is impossible to derive the probability of inheriting rheumatism.

The results of family tree surveys have shown that the incidence of rheumatoid arthritis in the families of rheumatic patients is 2-10 times higher than that in the families of healthy people. In a survey of 100 rheumatic patients, only 5 were found to have a family history. In some cases, not only one of the brothers and sisters suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, but also parents suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. However, there is no direct evidence whether it is inherited. Because in addition to genetic factors, the influence of various aspects such as family environment, nutritional status, and psychological condition should also be considered.
