Breast pain after weaning

Breast pain after weaning

Weaning is a stage that every mother must go through. Many mothers experience tingling pain in their breasts when weaning and worry whether there is something wrong with their breasts. Breast pain after weaning is actually normal, and mothers can relieve it through other methods, such as hot compresses, massage, etc.

What to do if your breasts hurt after weaning:

1. Natural weaning

Gradually reduce the number of breastfeeding times and shorten the feeding time. At the same time, pay attention to taking less soup and milk-producing foods, so that milk secretion gradually decreases and eventually disappears.

2. Artificial weaning

That is, using various milk-suppressing drugs to reduce milk secretion. Estrogen drugs can be taken orally or injected intramuscularly, such as oral ethinyl stilbestrol, 5 mg each time, 3 times a day, for 3 to 5 days; or intramuscular injection of estradiol benzoate, 2 mg each time, twice a day, for 3 to 5 days. Oral or external use of Chinese herbal milk-suppressing drugs can also have good effects, such as 120g of roasted malt, decocted with water, and taken warm in 3 times; or a bowl of soy milk, add a little white sugar; or first suck out the milk, use 50 to 60g of saltpeter, put it in a gauze bag, apply it to the breast, and replace it in time after deliquescing, 3 to 4 times a day.

3. Systemic treatment

Recipe for weaning: 60 grams of raw malt, 12 grams of cicada shell, decocted in water; 15 grams of raw loquat leaves (dehaired), 60 grams of raw malt, decocted in water; 60 grams of raw malt, 30 grams of hawthorn, 30 grams of Shenqu, decocted in water and drunk as tea, one dose per day.

Weaning: Boil half a liang of barley malt* in a bowl of water and drink it once, twice a day. The milk will stop coming in just one day.

4. Local treatment

Recipe for weaning: Take 300 grams of saltpeter, put it into a cloth bag, apply it to the breast after the milk is emptied and tie it tightly; or take 6 grams of alum, dissolve it in 1500 grams of boiling water, wait until the water is warm, use this water to rub the breast for 3 minutes, then use a clean towel soaked in alum water to apply wet hot compress to the breast for 15 minutes, once a night for 3 days. The amount of milk will be significantly reduced and the breast pain will disappear.

Buy 2 liang of raw malt from a Chinese medicine store, boil it in water and drink it 2 to 3 times a day, a small bowl each time.
