What causes candida in women?

Candida infection is relatively unfamiliar to men, but is relatively familiar to most women. Sometimes you get infected with Candida without knowing why, which is really confusing. Clinically, the main treatment for this type of disease is drug therapy. So the question is, what causes women to be infected with Candida?

The main causes of candidal infection are:

1. Decreased immunity

We should pay attention to strengthening our own resistance. Once women's resistance is reduced, germs can easily invade. Although we pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene, when germs invade, pathogens are triggered, leading to Candida infection.

2. Shared bath towels and bathtubs

Female friends must be careful to avoid sharing bath towels and bathtubs with others. If the bath towels and bathtubs are not effectively disinfected, cross infection will occur. Even when traveling on business, it is recommended that women bring their own towels and bath towels.

3. Transmission through sexual intercourse

Sexual intercourse is the fastest and most direct way of transmission. If one of the spouses suffers from Candida infection, they must not have sexual intercourse.

4. Diabetic patients and pregnant women

Diabetic patients and pregnant women are at high risk of Candida infection because their vaginal epithelial glycogen is more and the acidity is increased, which can breed bacteria and cause Candida infection.

Candidal vaginitis, also known as fungal vaginitis, is caused by Candida infection. Its incidence is second only to bacterial vaginosis. Candidal vaginitis is more common in young girls, pregnant women, diabetic patients, and postmenopausal patients who have been treated with high doses of estrogen.

Causes

The main cause of the disease is vaginal flora imbalance. It can also be seen through sexual contact, contaminated clothing and utensils, and unsterilized sanitary napkins, toilet paper, and panty liners.

There are many types of mold, the most important of which is Candida albicans. 80% to 90% of fungal vaginal infections are caused by Candida albicans, and the rest are caused by other Candida and Torulopsis. Therefore, fungal vaginitis is actually Candida vaginitis or vaginal candidiasis. Candida albicans is oval in shape, with pseudohyphae formed by budding spores and cell germination. The pseudohyphae are connected to the spores to form branches or chains. Candida is usually a putrefactive parasite that can live in the skin, mucous membranes, digestive tract or other organs of the normal human body, and exists in the vagina and is often asymptomatic. When vaginal glycogen increases, acidity rises, or when the body's resistance decreases, it can become a cause of disease. Long-term use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and corticosteroids can greatly increase fungal infections. Because the above two drugs can cause imbalance of the body's flora, change the mutual restraint relationship between microorganisms in the vagina, and reduce the ability to resist infection. In addition, vitamin deficiency (vitamin B complex), severe infectious diseases, and other wasting diseases can all serve as favorable conditions for the growth of Candida albicans. During pregnancy, the glycogen content of vaginal epithelial cells increases, the acidity of the vagina increases, and the renal glucose threshold of pregnant women decreases. Gestational diabetes is common, and the sugar content in urine increases, which promotes the growth and reproduction of Candida albicans.
