What to do with the wound after bathing after cesarean section

For the sake of their own cleanliness, women still need to take a bath even if their bodies are very weak after giving birth. Taking a bath is a very big problem for women who have undergone caesarean section, because it will leave a scar on their body, and this scar should be kept away from water as much as possible so that the scar can heal quickly. Therefore, many women will consider a question: what should they do when taking a bath after a caesarean section?

Can I take a shower after a caesarean section?

You can take a shower after the cesarean section wound has healed and scabbed. In summer, generally one week after delivery, and in winter, within 2 weeks, you can take a bath depending on how your physical strength has recovered. If the wound has not healed yet, showering may cause it to become infected.

Generally speaking, the temperature is 36 to 38 degrees in winter and around 37 degrees in summer. Although autumn is not as hot as summer or as cold as winter, the autumn wind is pervasive. If possible, the new mother should not be the first to shower, but wait until everyone else has showered, as this can increase the temperature in the bathroom.

Things to note after caesarean section

1. Drink plenty of water. Women who have undergone caesarean section should drink plenty of water during the confinement period. This not only prevents constipation but is also beneficial for breastfeeding.

2. Take care of the wound. Try not to make any big movements after delivery. When coughing or laughing, you can support the wound with your hands or use a pillow to support your abdomen, which will help relieve pain. Take good care of your wound to prevent infection. If there are signs of redness, swelling or even fever in the wound, you should see a doctor immediately.

3. Observe the lochia carefully. The vaginal secretions of postpartum women increase greatly, but as the body gradually recovers, the amount of lochia will decrease, and the color of lochia should gradually change from bright red to pink, and finally to yellow-white. Careful inspection of lochia is a must for women who have undergone cesarean section. If any abnormality is found in the lochia, they should seek medical attention immediately.

4. Wear loose clothing. Mothers should choose a larger size of lace-up underwear or boxer briefs.

5. You can do moderate exercise. 6 to 8 weeks after surgery, you can start doing some moderate exercise, but you must get enough exercise.

You can take a bath, but you need to wait until the scab forms before you can suck it out. When taking a bath, you also need to pay attention to the indoor temperature and must not catch a cold, as this is not good for the mother and the fetus. After a caesarean section, you need to pay attention to postpartum care and must not be careless.
