How to self-diagnose ovulation

How to self-diagnose ovulation

If a couple has intercourse during the ovulation period, the success rate of pregnancy is very high, so many women who want to get pregnant will test their ovulation period every month in order to accurately conceive. The method of self-testing the ovulation period is very simple. Now there are good test strips that can be used, and you can also use the menstrual date to calculate, etc. Another method is to measure body temperature. The body temperature will be higher than usual during ovulation. By finding this pattern, you can calculate the ovulation period.

How to self-test ovulation

How to self-test ovulation? In many cases, women can calculate it through the menstrual cycle, but for some women with irregular menstruation or even quarterly menstruation, ovulation is even more difficult to calculate. Is there any way to help everyone?

Generally speaking, there are five common methods for self-testing ovulation, including the menstrual date calculation method, the basal body temperature measurement method, the ovulation test paper self-test method, the cervical mucus observation method, and the B-ultrasound monitoring method.

1. Menstrual date calculation method:

This method can be used by women with normal cycles. For women with normal cycles, the ovulation day is 14 days forward from the first day of menstruation. The 5 days before ovulation, the 4 days after, and the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, are the ovulation period. The days other than the ovulation period and the menstrual period are called the safe period.

2. Measuring basal body temperature:

Some women's menstrual cycles are not very regular, and their periods may occasionally be delayed or advanced. It is recommended to use the basal body temperature curve chart to find their ovulation day. After getting up every morning, measure your body temperature immediately and record the measured body temperature on graph paper. Women with regular ovulation periods will generally find that about 2 weeks before ovulation, the basal body temperature is always below 36.5℃, and 2 weeks after ovulation, the basal body temperature is often higher than 36.5℃. Normally, the body temperature will rise by 0.3-0.5℃ after ovulation, but this method can only indicate that ovulation has occurred, but cannot predict when ovulation will occur.

3. Ovulation test paper self-test method:

The principle of using ovulation test strips to detect ovulation is that the luteinizing hormone (LH) in the urine will reach a peak level 24-48 hours before a woman ovulates. The ovulation test strips predict whether ovulation will occur by detecting the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in the urine. If a woman is about to ovulate, the result will be positive when she uses an ovulation test strip to test herself. However, the urine used for ovulation test strips cannot be morning urine. You should try to test the urine sample at the same time every day. You should reduce water intake 2 hours before collecting urine to avoid diluted urine samples interfering with the detection of LH peak. Women with regular menstrual cycles should measure for six consecutive days, starting from 14 days before the period (which is the expected ovulation day), the three days before the period, and the three days after the period. Women with irregular or abnormal menstruation should generally start testing on the third day after the period ends. If the two bars on the test paper are the same depth or the second bar is darker than the first, it means that you will ovulate within 24 to 48 hours.
