What to do about asthma during lactation

Asthma is a disease that is seriously harmful to physical health. Many people suffer from this disease in life. When asthma attacks, patients will feel symptoms such as difficulty breathing and coughing. Since there are many causes of asthma, treatment needs to be based on specific circumstances. When a breastfeeding mother has an asthma attack, she needs to take medication for treatment, otherwise she will not be able to breastfeed her baby.

What to do about asthma during lactation

Asthma is usually caused by colds or allergies. If you have just given birth or are still breastfeeding, you should pay attention to the use of medication and make sure to use it under the guidance of a doctor. During breastfeeding, you can use Symbicort and Berkner aerosol. These two drugs are relatively safe for pregnant women and should be used.

What are the symptoms of asthma?

The main symptom of asthma in children is difficulty in exhaling, accompanied by symptoms such as coughing and sputum production. When examining the lungs, a whistle-like sound can be heard, which is called "wheezing."

First of all, there are often allergic symptoms a few minutes before an asthma attack, such as itchy nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose, tears and dry cough. These manifestations are called prodromal symptoms.

Afterwards, chest tightness appears immediately, and the chest feels as if it is being pressed by a heavy stone. After about 10 minutes, difficulty in exhaling occurs. At this time, the asthma sound can be heard even without the doctor's stethoscope. The patient is forced to sit upright, with his head stretched forward, his shoulders hunched, and his hands supporting himself, gasping for breath. Such attacks can last from tens of minutes to half an hour and resolve on their own or with treatment.

In addition, asthma can also manifest as a chronic disease, that is, it can occur in all seasons. Regardless of whether it occurs or not, there is often chest tightness and shortness of breath, wheezing and asthma-like breathing at ordinary times, accompanied by sticky sputum and low fever. Such patients are often unable to participate in general work.

Sometimes an asthma attack begins without any warning symptoms. Some asthma attacks last for several days, and the patient often suffocates due to extreme difficulty breathing, and often dies from heart failure and physical exhaustion. Some asthma symptoms are atypical, manifested by long-term recurrent dry cough, itchy throat, and chest tightness. Generally, anti-inflammatory and antitussive treatments are ineffective, and anti-asthmatic treatments are often used to relieve the symptoms.

How to reduce the incidence of asthma

1. According to climate changes, add or remove clothes for your child in time to prevent him or her from catching a cold.

2. Parents should pay close attention to their children's living and eating habits, look for allergens that trigger asthma, and try to avoid contact with allergens.

3. Pay attention to strengthening nutrition and supplement your child with sufficient protein, vitamins, and trace elements to maintain your child's balanced nutrition.

4. In daily life, children should be prevented from being overly tired, ensure adequate sleep, and pay attention to strengthening physical exercise to improve the body's adaptability and tolerance to the environment and reduce the chance of illness.
