Vaginal bleeding one week before menstruation

Vaginal bleeding one week before menstruation

If you have vaginal bleeding symptoms a week before your period, it can be considered a sign of early menstruation. Generally, menstruation is one week early. If it does not happen often, this occasional occurrence is a physiological problem and you don't need to worry too much. However, if bleeding starts early and often occurs a week or a week in advance, it should be considered an abnormal performance. It is best to go to the hospital to find out the cause.

Causes of vaginal bleeding

1. Vaginal bleeding during sexual intercourse

The most common vaginal bleeding during sexual intercourse is vaginal bleeding caused by rupture of the hymen after the first sexual intercourse, but the amount of bleeding is generally small and the bleeding time is also short, which generally does not affect health. If sexual intercourse is too rough or the vaginal tissue is fragile, lacerations may occur to the vaginal wall and posterior fornix. This type of laceration often occurs in women with vaginal hypoplasia, older women, or those having sexual intercourse for the first time after childbirth.

2. Vaginal bleeding caused by vaginal trauma

The vulva has rich blood circulation. If the vulva is injured, it can easily cause vaginal bleeding or hematoma, or even a huge hematoma.

3. Vaginal bleeding caused by gynecological inflammation

In addition to sexual intercourse and trauma, gynecological diseases can also cause vaginal bleeding, such as chronic cervicitis, endometritis, etc. Chronic cervicitis may cause symptoms of cervical erosion or cervical polyps. During sexual intercourse, the cervix may be irritated and cause vaginal bleeding. The amount of bleeding is generally small and the bleeding time is short. When seeking medical treatment, a cervical smear examination should be done to rule out the possibility of early cervical cancer.

Tuberculous endometritis can also cause vaginal bleeding in the early stages. This is due to endometrial congestion or endometrial ulceration, which leads to excessive menstruation or prolonged menstruation. It can be differentiated from functional uterine bleeding by performing a curettage and taking an endometrial biopsy.
