Are your teeth numb?

Are your teeth numb?

If your teeth become numb, it is likely that you have oral diseases such as periodontitis or pulpitis. If you want to confirm which oral disease it is, take the patient to the hospital for relevant examinations and treatment in time. After finding out the cause, then treat it symptomatically. During the treatment, you must pay attention to oral hygiene and develop good oral hygiene habits. It is best to brush your teeth in the morning and evening.

How to quickly relieve pain in pulpitis

Open pulp drainage

When pulpitis is severe, it is very painful and requires pulp perforation, that is, drilling the pulp for drainage, to relieve pain.

Local analgesics

Dip a cotton ball in a medicine containing camphor phenol or eugenol and place the cotton ball in the hole to achieve an analgesic effect.

Oral pain medication

Oral analgesics can relieve the pain of acute pulpitis. However, the effect of using it alone is not very good. It can only relieve the pain at the time but cannot completely cure it.

Emergency treatment for acute pulpitis

(1) After mixing the white wine and salt evenly, use a cotton ball to absorb the solution. Then, place the cotton ball on the painful area of the tooth and bite it. Take it out after a few minutes. Repeat this several times. This can greatly relieve the pain.

(2) Place a whole Sichuan peppercorn on the site of tooth decay and bite it, or hold it in your mouth to relieve the pain of pulpitis.

(3) One of the emergency treatments for acute pulpitis is to massage the Hegu acupoint to relieve pain.

(4) Cleanliness is very important for pulpitis. When you feel pain, you can rinse your mouth with salt water, which can clean your mouth and relieve pain.

(5) When acute pulpitis attacks at night, patients generally experience unbearable pain. At this time, they can change their body position to relieve the pain.

What are the symptoms of pulpitis?

Severe spontaneous, paroxysmal toothache. Spontaneous pain refers to severe tooth pain that occurs without any stimulation. This pain will subside on its own after a while.

When pulpitis causes pain, patients often cannot clearly identify which tooth is causing the pain. The patient feels pain in the teeth on the upper jaw, but it is possible that the disease is in the lower jaw. When you feel that your front teeth are more painful, it is actually your back teeth that are damaged. When a patient has several bad teeth in his mouth, it is important to carefully identify which tooth has pulpitis. Because the treatment of pulpitis and caries are completely different.

The pain is often worse at night. This may be related to the increased pressure in the pulp cavity when lying on the back.

Thermal stimulation can make the pain worse. In the early stages, exposure to cold or heat can aggravate the pain, but when the pulp is festering or necrotic, cold water in the mouth can relieve the pain. This may be because the pulp festering and necrosis produces gas, which expands when heated and increases pressure, and contracts when cooled and reduces pressure.

Deeper cavities may be seen during examination, and the teeth may be painful when probed with a probe. Or conditions such as deformed central cusp and deformed lingual fossa that may lead to pulpitis may be found.

Taking X-rays of the teeth can help identify pulpitis caused by interproximal caries, secondary caries, and periodontal disease, which are more difficult to detect.
