Why didn't my period come at 13?

Menstruation represents a physical characteristic of growing into a girl. Girls' menstruation is coming earlier and earlier in recent years. It is normal to have menstruation from the age of eleven or twelve to sixteen. Don't worry too much. Menstruation is a sign of the maturity of a woman's secondary characteristic. At this time, women can ovulate and have reproductive function. However, the body is not very mature at this time, and the menstrual cycle is also gradually adjusting. Let’s find out through the following article.

It is normal for a child to have menstruation at the age of 13. The age of menarche is between 13 and 14, but it may be between 11 and 15. The early or late menarche is mainly affected by genetic factors. Other factors such as nutrition and weight also play an important role. If a child does not have menstruation at the age of 16, and secondary sexual characteristics such as breast pubic hair and armpit hair are not developed, he should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. If a child over 14 years old has developed secondary sexual characteristics but has not had menstruation for a long time, he should also go to the hospital for examination, ensure adequate sleep, and strengthen nutrition.

The onset of menstruation in girls is an important sign of their entry into puberty. Most girls begin to menstruate between the ages of 12 and 14. The first menstruation is called menarche. The menstrual cycle is generally 28 to 30 days. Each menstrual period lasts 3 to 7 days, with a bleeding volume of 30 to 60 ml.

However, some girls have irregular menstruation, sometimes it comes every 2-3 days, sometimes it comes twice a month, and some even have no menstruation for several months. Some have too much bleeding, and some have too little bleeding. The reason for irregular menstruation in teenage girls is that they have just entered puberty, and the function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis has not yet fully matured. At the beginning of menstruation, they do not ovulate but only produce estrogen, which causes the endometrium to proliferate. However, the level of estrogen is very low, which stops the endometrium from proliferating and causes it to shed and bleed. Therefore, some girls have to wait several months after their menstruation, and sometimes they have irregular bleeding, and sometimes they have continuous bleeding after a short period of amenorrhea. This is the reason for menstrual disorders in teenage girls. This is a normal physiological phenomenon. Don't let it cause unnecessary psychological fluctuations. After a period of adjustment, the ovaries mature and ovulate regularly, and menstruation will come regularly.
