Can I eat while doing a pregnancy test?

Pre-pregnancy check-up is very important. For couples who are preparing for pregnancy, it can help them give birth to a healthy baby. Generally speaking, you cannot eat during a pre-pregnancy check-up. This is because the check-up involves a lot of content, such as a blood test, which requires fasting. Sometimes you need to hold your urine, so you must pay attention to the time of examination and drink water in time.

Can I eat while doing a pregnancy test?

Women cannot eat before the pre-pregnancy check-up and are required to be on an empty stomach. Female friends who plan to have a pre-pregnancy check-up should not eat or drink water from the early morning, that is, starting at 0:00 on the day, because some pre-pregnancy check-ups need to be done on an empty stomach, otherwise it will affect the normal progress of the pre-pregnancy check-up. In addition, you should eat a light diet 3 to 5 days before the physical examination and avoid eating bloody foods such as pork liver and pig blood.

If a male pre-pregnancy check-up selects an examination item that requires a blood test, the test also requires fasting. Therefore, do not eat after dinner the day before the test, and make sure to fast for more than 8 hours before the blood test. Before the pre-pregnancy check-up, you should pay attention to maintaining a regular lifestyle, avoid staying up late, combine work and rest, do appropriate physical exercise, pay attention to a comprehensive and balanced diet, eat more foods rich in high-quality protein, and try to avoid eating high-fat, high-sugar, and high-protein foods. Also, do not smoke, drink, or eat greasy or high-sugar foods three days before the examination.

What preparations should be made for prenatal check-up?

In addition to paying attention to the requirement of fasting for blood draws during pre-pregnancy checkups, there are several other things you need to prepare and pay attention to:

1. Prepare morning urine

Collect a small amount of the first urine excreted in the morning and put it in a clean glass bottle for urine testing. Because the test results of morning urine are more accurate. Furthermore, if you need to do a uterine B-ultrasound, you will need to hold your urine. If you urinate in the hospital, you will need to wait a long time for the bladder to fill again.

2. Hold your urine during uterine B-ultrasound

Uterine B-ultrasound examination needs to be performed when the bladder is full, so you need to bring a bottle of water before going to the hospital and drink water 1 to 2 hours before the B-ultrasound examination to ensure that the bladder is full during the examination. To ensure that the B-ultrasound examination can be carried out normally, it is best to empty the morning urine first and then hold the urine, because the urine is more concentrated in the morning and the urge to urinate is obvious, but the bladder is not actually full.

3. Do not do a pregnancy test during your menstrual period

Pre-pregnancy check-ups should be done away from the menstrual period and should be done within a week after the menstrual period ends. At the same time, you should get a good rest the day before the examination to ensure you are fully energized. In addition, do not use special lotions to clean your lower body before going to the hospital to avoid affecting the examination results.
