Can I get a tattoo during my period?

In the past decade or so, Chinese culture has been greatly impacted by European and American culture, as well as some Japanese and Korean culture. This has directly led to many young people starting to rebel. In the past, there were very few people with tattoos in our country, but now tattoos are everywhere on the streets. Some girls are also obsessed with tattoos, so can they get tattoos during menstruation?

Try not to get a tattoo during your menstrual period. During menstruation, the body's resistance is relatively weak, making it easy to be infected by bacteria, which can cause wound infection and make healing difficult. It is recommended to get a tattoo one week after your period.

From a medical and health perspective, tattooing is a behavior that is harmful to health. The skin is the first line of defense of the human body. It can resist damage from external mechanical, physical, and chemical stimuli and the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms, and plays an important role in human health. However, tattoos destroy this line of defense, reducing the body's ability to resist various stimuli, and are especially prone to bacterial infections.

Damage 1

Tattoos are usually not disinfected strictly or not at all. When the needle tip pierces the skin, bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms are brought into the body, causing various infectious diseases such as furuncle, carbuncle, erysipelas, impetigo, etc. If the wound area is large, the bacteria are highly virulent, or even grow and multiply in the blood, it may cause sepsis and endanger life. The risk of tattoo infection is the biggest factor that requires the American Association of Blood Banks to wait a full year before donating blood.

Damage 2

People with tattoos cannot work in leadership positions at state-owned enterprises or institutions in China. If a tattoo needs to be removed, the only way is to have plastic surgery. However, because the tattoos were originally created by burning the skin with lasers or drugs, there is currently no specific drug that can repair them without leaving any marks. The only way is to have plastic surgery.

Damage Three

There are many kinds of pigments used for tattoos, many of which are chemical substances. People with poor physical constitutions are prone to dermatitis and allergies, resulting in local itching, pain, burning sensation, numbness, etc. It can easily cause common skin injuries, such as permanent allergies, keloid formation, granulomas, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) complications.

Harm 4: The toxins in tattoo ink may cause cancer after being absorbed by the body. The nanoparticles in tattoo ink enter the blood vessels and accumulate in the spleen and kidneys, thereby affecting the body's detoxification function. Some tattoo inks are rich in cobalt and mercury, and some tattoo ink products currently used in the market do not have product descriptions and ingredient lists, leaving users unaware of the potential risks when getting a tattoo.
