What is polycystic ovary called in Chinese medicine?

There are many patients with polycystic ovary in our lives. For polycystic ovary patients, they have this disease, which is likely to affect their pregnancy function. At this time, most people will choose the treatment method of traditional Chinese medicine, because this kind of TV cannot cure it radically, and traditional Chinese medicine can make patients pregnant through the conditioning of traditional Chinese medicine. So what is the traditional Chinese medicine called for polycystic ovary?

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the occurrence of polycystic ovary is mainly due to the kidneys. Insufficient kidney water means that menstrual blood has no source, resulting in irregular menstruation and difficulty in conceiving. In addition, the seven emotions and six desires or the invasion of phlegm, dampness, blood stasis and toxins can cause liver dysfunction and spleen dysfunction, and Qi, blood and body fluids cannot circulate smoothly throughout the body, and they gather into phlegm, fluid and blood stasis, which block the Chong, Ren and uterus and cause infertility.

According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, the syndromes are often divided into kidney deficiency, phlegm-dampness obstruction, qi stagnation and blood stasis, and damp-heat in the liver meridians.

What are the symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome

1. Menstrual disorders

Menstruation is scanty or amenorrhea may occur, and in a few cases, functional uterine bleeding may occur. It often occurs during adolescence, as a continuation of irregular menstruation after menarche, sometimes accompanied by dysmenorrhea.

2. Infertility

Infertility is often caused by menstrual disorders and anovulation, and is often the main reason for seeking medical treatment. Sometimes there may be occasional ovulation or miscarriage, with an incidence rate of up to 74%. Recommended reading: Is the pregnancy rate high in polycystic ovary syndrome?

3. Hirsutism and acne

It is relatively common, with an incidence rate of up to 69%. Due to the increase in androgen levels, the vellus hair on the upper lip, lower jaw, chest, back, middle of the lower abdomen, both sides of the upper thighs and around the anus may become thicker and more numerous, but the degree of hirsutism is not proportional to the androgen level (affected by multiple factors such as the number of receptors, estrogen, SHBG and the sensitivity of hair follicles to androgens). It may also be accompanied by acne, excessive facial sebum secretion, deep and rough voice, enlarged clitoris, Adam's apple and other signs of masculinization. Oily skin and acne are also common, which is related to the high androgen in the body stimulating sebaceous gland secretion.

4. Obesity

Overweight exceeds 20%, and those with a body mass index ≥25 account for 30% to 60%. Obesity is mostly concentrated in the upper body, with a waist/hip ratio > 0.85. It usually starts during adolescence and gradually worsens with age.

5. Bilateral ovarian enlargement

In a small number of patients, gynecological examination may reveal that the bilateral ovaries are 1 to 3 times larger than normal and feel firm. In most patients, enlarged ovaries need to be discovered through auxiliary examinations such as B-ultrasound and are not easily detected by clinical examinations.

6. Estrogen Effects

All patients showed good estrogen response. During examination, a large amount of cervical mucus may be seen. Continuous and large amounts of estrogen can cause rapid endometrial hyperplasia, atypical hyperplasia, and even cancer.

7. Acanthosis nigricans

It manifests as thickening of the skin in the skin folds of the neck, back, groin, etc., with gray-brown pigmentation and a soft texture. It is associated with insulin resistance and is a potential marker for diabetes.
