What diseases can constipation cause in women?

Constipation is the exact opposite of diarrhea, and both involve abnormal frequency of bowel movements. The former means that the frequency of bowel movements is less than usual and it is difficult to defecate; the latter means that the frequency of bowel movements is more than usual and the stool is thinner than usual. If people are often constipated, it will cause other diseases in the body, such as hemorrhoids. So what kind of impact will frequent constipation have on women's bodies?

Constipation is a common complex symptom in clinical practice, rather than a disease. It mainly refers to reduced frequency of bowel movements, reduced stool volume, dry stool, and difficulty in defecation. The presence of constipation must be determined based on the characteristics of the stool, the individual's usual bowel habits, and whether or not there is difficulty with defecation. If it lasts for more than 6 months, it is considered chronic constipation. Some women suffer from constipation, which causes dull skin, affecting their beauty and figure, and making their belly bulge. Therefore, constipation is very harmful to women.

What diseases can constipation cause in women?

1. When constipation occurs for a long time, the bacteria in the intestines can invade the nearby fallopian tubes and ovaries. In mild cases, there are often no symptoms because the disease progresses slowly. If the condition is serious, there will be some pain in the lower abdomen, accompanied by back pain, increased leucorrhea, excessive menstruation, dysmenorrhea and pain during sexual intercourse. The fallopian tube lumen may be blocked due to inflammation, thereby hindering the chance of sperm and egg meeting, resulting in infertility.

2. Some women often use laxatives when they have difficulty defecating. Although this helps to induce defecation immediately after taking the laxatives, it creates intestinal dependence. Once you stop taking the medicine, constipation will become more severe, causing feces to stay in the intestines longer, which will have a greater impact on the nearby fallopian tubes and ovaries.

3. Excessive constipation, when stool passes through the anus or anal canal frequently or occasionally, can rub or tear the skin and mucous membranes here, causing fissures in the skin of the anal canal. Due to the frequent passage of feces and the flow of anal secretions to the fissures, the fissures cannot heal. Over time, they recur for a long time, thus forming anal fissures.

4. Anal fistula and anorectal abscess. Constipation causes fecal matter to accumulate in the anus for a long time, abrading the anal crypts. At the same time, small fecal matter accumulates in the anal crypts, causing anal cryptitis, anal gland ductitis, and even anal gland inflammation, which can cause anorectal abscesses and anal fistulas over time.

5. Gastrointestinal nerve dysfunction. When constipation occurs, feces are retained and harmful substances are absorbed, which can cause gastrointestinal nerve dysfunction and lead to symptoms such as loss of appetite, abdominal distension, belching, bitter taste in the mouth, and excessive flatus.

6. Suffering from colon cancer. It may be because constipation makes it impossible to eliminate carcinogens in the intestines for a long time. According to data, about 10% of people with severe constipation suffer from colon cancer.
