Side effects of penicillin

Excessive doses or rapid intravenous administration may cause direct stimulation to the cerebral cortex. Intrathecal injection may cause symptoms of meningeal and nerve irritation. Intravenous infusion of large doses of penicillin potassium or sodium salt can cause significant water and electrolyte imbalance, especially in patients with decreased renal function, it can cause hyperkalemia and hypernatremia, and even cardiac function inhibition. To be honest, when the last adverse reaction occurs, it is sometimes no different from a death sentence by injection. In addition, when penicillin is given intravenously, sodium salt is usually used, and potassium salt is basically not used.
