It is easy to have miscarriage if you do vaginal ultrasound when you are pregnant

For many mothers who have just become pregnant, various examinations are indispensable during this period. But many times, pregnant mothers are actually not willing to do transvaginal ultrasound. Because I am worried that a vaginal ultrasound examination may lead to miscarriage. In fact, vaginal ultrasound is a type of vaginal ultrasound. Whether vaginal ultrasound is needed depends on the doctor's advice. So, is it really easy to have miscarriage if you do a vaginal ultrasound when you just get pregnant?

When it comes to vaginal ultrasound, many pregnant mothers are afraid. In comparison, they prefer abdominal B-ultrasound, especially those who have just become pregnant.

What is vaginal ultrasound?

Ultrasound examination is a non-invasive examination using ultrasound and has become one of the main diagnostic methods in modern clinical medicine.

Medical ultrasound is roughly divided into A-ultrasound, B-ultrasound, color ultrasound, three-dimensional and four-dimensional ultrasound according to the imaging principle. The ultrasound examination routes are roughly: transabdominal, transvaginal, transesophageal, transrectal, etc.

Vaginal B-ultrasound: It is a type of transvaginal ultrasound, that is, B-type ultrasound for transvaginal examination. The images are clear and realistic, and the person being examined does not need to "hold urine", eliminating the pain of patients holding urine after drinking water.

Abdominal B-ultrasound: observation is done with a probe on the abdomen, while vaginal B-ultrasound involves inserting a B-ultrasound probe covered with a condom into the vagina for observation and ultrasonic diagnosis.

Many professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, agree that routine ultrasound examinations during pregnancy are safe for the fetus, including vaginal ultrasounds.

Vaginal B-ultrasound VS abdominal B-ultrasound, our pregnant mothers worry——

Many expectant mothers have accepted the fact that "I have just gotten pregnant and I need to do an ultrasound to see if the baby is okay", but they often undergo abdominal ultrasounds rather than vaginal ultrasounds. This is mainly because they are worried that the vaginal probe will trigger uterine contractions and lead to miscarriage.

In fact, vaginal ultrasound examination is not as scary as we think! Because vaginal ultrasound plays a vital role in early pregnancy:

First of all, the ultrasound doctor's movements are very gentle. The expectant mothers will not feel any obvious pain or discomfort during the entire examination process, and it will not cause uterine contractions and lead to miscarriage.

What is important is: doing vaginal B-ultrasound after pregnancy is to check whether the embryo is in intrauterine pregnancy, hydatidiform mole and other diseases, and whether the uterus has fibroids, deformities, whether the ovaries are normal, etc. The reason why abdominal B-ultrasound is not used is that in the early pregnancy (1-3 months), the uterus is not too large and the abdominal B-ultrasound is not very clear. If a vaginal B-ultrasound examination is done at this time, some problems with the uterus and its appendages are not easily missed. Once abnormalities are found, timely and effective treatment can be taken.

However, in the early stages of pregnancy, when some pregnant women hear that they have to undergo a vaginal B-ultrasound examination, they begin to worry: Will this examination cause miscarriage? In the early stages of pregnancy, if the situation cannot be seen through the abdomen, a vaginal ultrasound examination can be used. By gently inserting a fingernail-sized probe into the vagina, about 4-5 cm, it will not increase the risk of miscarriage, so pregnant mothers do not need to worry too much.

Since AA can be achieved during pregnancy, how can vaginal ultrasound become the "culprit" of miscarriage?

Let's look at this question from another angle: Can you have sex during early pregnancy? Obstetrics textbooks clearly state that healthy pregnant women can have normal sex without restrictions. In the past, there were no pregnancy test strips, and you would have to wait a long time after your menstruation to know you were pregnant. In fact, you can still have sex during this period, but it didn't seem to have any effect on the fetus.

In short, whether or not a vaginal ultrasound examination is needed, patients need to listen to the doctor's advice. The doctor will make the best decision based on the specific situation, and the most suitable one is the best.
