What should you pay attention to before you want to get pregnant?

Some people say that there is no need to make any preparations for pregnancy because it can happen at any time. In fact, this is not the case. Many cases have proved that it is not advisable not to be prepared. There are too many unexpected situations to face after pregnancy. But for some young women who have no experience, they don’t know where to start with the preparations before pregnancy. So, what should you pay attention to before you get pregnant?

1. Be careful about your diet, adjust your daily routine, and develop good living habits. In the three months before pregnancy, you should pay attention to dietary diversification, strengthen nutrition, and conserve your energy to create favorable material conditions for both husband and wife to prepare good sperm and eggs; try not to stay up late, go to bed early and get up early; according to your own preferences and local conditions, you should carry out necessary physical exercises, such as jogging in the morning, playing badminton, and taking a walk in the evening, in order to strengthen your physical fitness and maintain a good physical condition.

2. The couple are considerate and loving. Regularly strengthening emotional exchanges between husband and wife can deepen their love and make the wife have a sense of happiness, security and belonging, which is very beneficial for stabilizing the wife's emotions and cultivating a good mood; a harmonious and happy sex life can keep the wife's emotions in a happy state, which is conducive to the wife's discharge of high-quality eggs.

3. Pay attention to improving the quality of sex life. Before ovulation, the frequency of sexual intercourse should be reduced in a planned manner to ensure the quantity and quality of sperm. Then, before ovulation, both parties should try their best to be in a good mood during sexual intercourse and devote themselves wholeheartedly so that the woman can reach orgasm more smoothly, which will promote the contraction and upward movement of the uterus, forming a larger semen pool in the posterior fornix of the vagina, allowing more contact between the cervix and the semen pool, and allowing more high-quality sperm to swim to the uterus and fallopian tubes.

4. Avoid harm from adverse interference factors. The egg is most susceptible to the effects of drugs and other factors within 14 days from the primary egg cell to the mature egg. Therefore, the woman should not take general medicines, drink large amounts of alcohol, or be exposed to X-ray examinations and toxic chemicals and other adverse factors within 20 days before pregnancy. Since oral contraceptives are excreted relatively slowly, women who use contraceptives or one of the spouses takes long-term medication due to illness should stop taking the medication 6 months before pregnancy. In particular, men and women who work in heavily polluted environments such as those exposed to toxic chemicals should leave such environments in advance to avoid damage to their sperm and eggs.

5. Learn relevant knowledge. Couples should consciously learn relevant knowledge about sex, pregnancy and fetal education, understand how to get pregnant and what special physiological phenomena will occur during pregnancy, such as early pregnancy reactions, fetal movements, pregnancy edema, low back and leg pain, etc. When these physiological phenomena occur, we can treat them correctly and avoid unnecessary tension and panic.

6. Pay attention to pre-pregnancy check-ups. It is generally recommended to start prenatal check-ups 3-6 months before pregnancy, including both husband and wife. The female's pre-pregnancy test should be conducted within 3-7 days after the end of menstruation. Be careful to avoid having sex before the test. Pre-pregnancy check-ups for women mainly include routine blood tests, gynecological B-ultrasound examinations, toxoplasmosis screening, liver function tests, etc.; pre-pregnancy check-ups for men mainly include ABO and RH blood type tests, HIV, full hepatitis tests, liver function tests, sperm quality and quantity tests, chromosome testing, etc.
