Normal range of uterine diameter

Normal range of uterine diameter

The uterus is one of the most important parts of a woman's body. The female uterus can give birth to fetuses and continue the family line. However, only by understanding the specific conditions of the uterus can we understand the relevant conditions of fetal development. Only when the uterus is healthy and normal can a healthy fetus be conceived. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the relevant conditions of the uterus, such as what is the normal range of the long diameter of the uterus?

1. The uterus is the organ that produces menstruation and nurtures the fetus. It is located in the center of the pelvic cavity, between the bladder and the rectum. The size of the uterus is related to age and fertility. For nulliparous women, it is approximately 7.5 cm long, 5 cm wide, and 3 cm thick. The uterus can be divided into three parts: the fundus, the body, and the neck. The uterine cavity is an inverted triangle, about 6 cm deep, with the two upper corners being the "uterine horns" that lead to the fallopian tubes. The narrow lower end is called the "isthmus", which is about 1 cm long. The isthmus gradually expands during pregnancy and forms the lower uterine segment at the time of delivery.

2. The ratio of the uterine body to the cervix varies with age, being 1:2 in infancy, 1:1 in adolescence, and 2:1 during the reproductive period. The uterus is normally slightly curved forward, with the anterior wall lying prone on the bladder and almost at right angles to the vagina. Its position may change with the degree of fullness of the bladder and rectum. The uterine wall is composed of three layers from outside to inside: serosa, muscle layer and mucosa (i.e. endometrium).

3. For normal adult women, the size of the uterus is 5.5-7.5cm in longitudinal diameter, 3.0-4.0cm in anterior-posterior diameter, 4.5-5.5cm in transverse diameter, and the thickness of the uterine wall is 2-3cm. The volume of the uterine cavity is 5 ml. The normal endometrium needs to reach 0.8-1.0cm during ovulation. If it is too thin, it will directly affect pregnancy. Now the problem of your thin endometrium is directly related to your uterine hypoplasia. If the uterus is small within the normal range, the uterus itself will not affect pregnancy.

4. As adult women age and their ovaries develop, their reproductive systems gradually mature and their uterus also enlarges. A normal uterus is 7 to 8 cm long, 4 to 5 cm wide, 2 to 3 cm thick, and has a capacity of 5 ml. The uterus of a postpartum woman can be as long as 9.0 to 9.5 cm. When women are in menopause and get older, they will eventually go through menopause and the size of their uterus will slowly get smaller.
