My period hasn't come yet and my lower abdomen is still hurting

You know your period is coming when you feel pain in your lower abdomen. However, my period did not come as planned, and I only had abdominal cramps. What is the reason? Faced with this kind of situation, the first reaction of many women of childbearing age is "Am I pregnant?"

What are the causes of lower abdominal pain?

1. Pregnancy

If you only have abdominal pain but no menstruation, the first possibility is pregnancy. The pain in early pregnancy is usually regular pain or fibrous or stabbing pain on one or both sides of the abdomen. When the baby attaches to your uterus. There may be a dull pain that moves downward in the lower abdomen, which is called indwelling pain.

2. Ovulation period

Mild muscle cramping on the side close to your period may be caused by a delay in ovulation.

Some women experience cramping on one side of their lower abdomen around the time of ovulation. This is called ovulation pain and is generally nothing to worry about unless the pain is severe. In an average menstrual cycle of 28 days, this type of pain may occur on the 10th to 14th day of the cycle.

3. Endometriosis

Increasingly severe menstrual pain, delayed menstruation, and pain during sexual intercourse may be caused by uterine endometriosis. This type of pain can occur at any time of the month and is usually felt in the lower abdomen, waist, and pelvic area.

4. Ovarian cysts

Sudden, severe abdominal pain may be caused by a ruptured ovarian cyst and requires immediate hospital admission. Ovarian cysts may cause severe pain just below the belly button, over the uterus and ovaries on the side with the cyst, or in the lower back or thigh.

5. Ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer can cause abdominal or pelvic cramps, along with pain in the legs and lower back. Symptoms may be mild at first but worsen over time, with symptoms including abdominal distension, constipation, and frequent and urgent urination.
