Can I sleep with my partner during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a good thing for both husband and wife, but the 10 months of pregnancy is not only a painful period for women, but also a tormenting period for men. Sleeping in the same bed is a declaration of sex and love, and both husband and wife should have the right to enjoy it, but they cannot enjoy it during pregnancy. Is it possible to sleep in the same bed during pregnancy? I can tell you responsibly that this is not allowed. It will not only affect the fetus, but is also harmful to the health of both husband and wife.

1. The process and characteristics of pregnancy

The union of male and female germ cells is called fertilization. The human fertilized egg reaches the uterine cavity about 3 to 4 days after fertilization, then stays free in the uterine cavity for 2 to 3 days, and begins to invade the endometrium about 6 to 8 days after fertilization, which is the implantation process. After successfully passing the implantation stage, the fertilized egg begins to enter the embryonic development stage. It takes about 266 days from the fertilized egg to the birth of a newborn, and about 280 days if counted from the first day of the last menstrual period. It is customary to divide pregnancy into three stages: the first three months of pregnancy are the early stage, during which the various organs of the embryo gradually develop and form. By the end of the third month, the sex of the fetus can be partially identified and it is called a fetus.

The embryo and fetus are relatively fragile at this stage. Certain diseases of the mother, such as rubella, and the mother's exposure to certain drugs or toxic substances may cause fetal malformations. Therefore, early pregnancy care is very necessary. The second stage is from the 13th to the 28th week of pregnancy, during which the various systems of the fetus develop and mature. Nutritional supplementation is particularly important for pregnant women. Prenatal diagnosis is generally performed during this period. For example, amniotic fluid examination can detect certain congenital malformations of the fetus early so that the pregnancy can be terminated early. The third stage is from 28 weeks of pregnancy to full-term 40 weeks. During this stage, the fetus's organ systems mature further, and the body and weight increase significantly. With proper care, babies born during this period may survive. This period is also a stage when the mother is susceptible to various complications, such as gestational hypertension, diabetes, etc. Therefore, closer follow-up is more important. In order to adapt to the needs of fetal growth and development, delivery and postpartum breastfeeding, women's bodies undergo considerable changes during pregnancy. Therefore, prenatal care should be implemented as soon as the early pregnancy is confirmed, which is particularly important for the health of pregnant women.

2. Pregnancy and Sex

For men and women, sex is both a power and a pleasure. Being a mother is not contradictory to having sex; it is normal for a husband to ask for sex during pregnancy. However, both husband and wife must understand the physical changes of women during pregnancy and after childbirth so that they can enjoy sex appropriately, moderately and at the right time while ensuring the safety and health of the mother and fetus.
