Anal swelling after episiotomy

Anal swelling after episiotomy

Many people give birth naturally, but some women experience anal swelling after natural birth or episiotomy. The most likely cause of this phenomenon is hemorrhoids. Postpartum hemorrhoids are a common disease with very obvious symptoms. There will be tumor-like objects in the anus. In addition to pain, there are also symptoms such as bloody stools and anal pain. We need to understand the causes and solutions of this condition and get rid of the impact of hemorrhoids on postpartum women as soon as possible.

Why do you get hemorrhoids after childbirth?

The occurrence of postpartum hemorrhoids can be traced back to the mother's pregnancy. The reasons why mothers get hemorrhoids after childbirth include enlarged uterus during pregnancy, increased progesterone in the body, excessive force during childbirth, etc. The specific reasons for postpartum hemorrhoids are as follows:

1. Enlargement of the uterus during pregnancy: After the mother becomes pregnant, the uterus in the body enlarges and the blood supply is insufficient. As the fetus develops, the uterus continues to grow. The enlarged uterus affects the circulation of the veins, causing poor blood return and leading to the formation of hemorrhoids.

2. Increased flavonoids during pregnancy or confinement period: During pregnancy or confinement period after childbirth, the flavonoids in the mother's body increase, the peristalsis of the large intestine slows down, and constipation is easy to occur. Once constipation occurs, it is easy to induce hemorrhoids.

3. Excessive force during childbirth: During the growth process, if natural delivery takes too long, hemorrhoids will be aggravated. During pregnancy, the pelvic tissue in the mother's body becomes loose. During the natural delivery process, excessive force is used and the abdominal cavity moves for a long time, which can easily lead to the formation of thrombotic arteries. Hard lumps will form on the skin around the anus, causing pain and forming hemorrhoids. Some mothers who have caesarean sections are no exception and will also develop hemorrhoids.

What to do with hemorrhoids after childbirth

1. In the early stage, you can drink more water or eat more fiber foods to prevent dry stools.

2. You can also use medication for treatment, such as ointments or suppositories, and use laxatives to allow the mother to defecate. When the wound is not serious, it is not recommended to use laxatives. You can also take a sitz bath to promote blood circulation and change the constipation situation.

3. During the menstrual period of hemorrhoids, new mothers should participate in physical activities appropriately. Such as walking, Tai Chi, abdominal breathing and other exercises. You can also do anal lifting exercises, which are to hold back the bowel movement, lift the anal sphincter upwards, inhale, retract the navel, relax the anal sphincter, and exhale to restore everything to normal. Repeat this exercise 30 times each time, once in the morning and once in the evening.

4. New mothers should lead a regular life, have regular bowel movements every day, keep their bowels open, change their underwear frequently, wash their anus frequently, and keep their vulva dry.

5. If the condition is serious, such as fistula, surgical treatment is recommended.
