Gestational sac grows on uterine scar

Gestational sac grows on uterine scar

The position of the gestational sac also has a certain impact on the baby's health. Only when the gestational sac grows in a normal position can the pregnant woman give birth normally. For some women, the gestational sac may grow on the uterine scar after they become pregnant. This is more dangerous and will pose a certain threat to the life safety of the mother. What should I do if the gestational sac grows on the uterine scar? The specific processing method is introduced below.

Scar pregnancy refers to a situation in which a gestational sac implants in the original uterine scar during the next pregnancy in a woman with a history of cesarean section. This often leads to heavy vaginal bleeding and late uterine rupture. It is an abnormal pregnancy that is difficult to treat and is as dangerous as an ectopic pregnancy. It is one of the most headache-inducing problems for obstetricians.

Experts advise

Zhao Weihua, director of the obstetrics department of Shenzhen Second People's Hospital, reminds that most women choose cesarean section when giving birth to their first child, so they must be wary of scar pregnancy. During a cesarean section, the doctor makes an incision in the uterus, takes out the baby, and then sews it up, leaving a scar. There are often tiny cracks in this place, the uterine cavity and mucosal layer are incomplete, and there are gaps between the muscle layers. If the embryo happens to implant nearby, it will grow towards the muscle layer like a seed, grow roots that pass through the gaps and tear the muscles, easily causing uterine rupture or heavy bleeding. Therefore, for women with a history of cesarean section, regular check-ups and B-ultrasound tests are necessary in the middle and late stages of pregnancy. If risk factors are found, they should be admitted to the hospital for intervention as soon as possible. [1]

Related Cases

In previous clinical practice, we have found cases where a mother was careless when she was pregnant with her second child, which resulted in rupture of the uterine scar and the fetus falling into the abdominal cavity and suffocating to death. What's worse, the mother's uterus was also removed. Before the introduction of the policy of allowing couples to have two children if only one of them is an only child, such cases were relatively rare. But now that the policy has been implemented, high-risk groups are reminded to pay attention and go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible if they experience pain in the scar or vaginal bleeding.

According to official statistics, among the applicant families, women aged between 30 and 39 account for 76% of the total. Experts remind that single mothers who have experienced cesarean section must be alert to risks such as scar pregnancy. [1]
