How important is sleep to women?

Lack of sleep makes women fat

Usually, women who sleep well are full of energy, while women who suffer from insomnia have dull complexions and lack of energy, and may even experience hormonal imbalances, leading to low immunity and endocrine disorders. Long-term insomnia will not only affect women's appearance, but also cause other physical and psychological diseases.

Lack of sleep can easily lead to fatigue, lack of concentration, and affect work efficiency. Lack of sleep can also make people fat. A study of 70,000 women found that those who slept 5-6 hours a day were, on average, 6-8 pounds heavier than those who slept 7-8 hours a day. When normal sleep time is deprived, the body will produce a large amount of anti-stress hormones to slow down the metabolism, and the appetite will also increase the next day. This condition can easily cause people to lose their keen sense of hunger and fullness, leading to weight gain and increasing the risk of diabetes.

Women are more likely to suffer from insomnia

We often hear women around us complaining about their insomnia. Among them, women aged 30-49 are at high risk of insomnia. Compared with men, women are more prone to insomnia for the following two reasons:

1. Gender Factor

Due to fluctuations in estrogen hormone levels in the body, women are more likely to suffer from insomnia during three specific periods in their lives: menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause.

2. Stress Factors

Women's emotions are more delicate. For working women, they have to balance work and family. Various pressures may lead to insomnia. Long-term insomnia can even become a triggering factor of depression.
