Why are pregnant women's feet swollen and itchy?

Pregnancy is the most important stage in a woman’s life. We become another person, that is, a mother. Women should pay special attention during pregnancy, avoid overwork, start taking folic acid and vitamin supplements, and eat more fruits. But don't eat too much, as it may cause gestational diabetes. In the later stages of pregnancy, a woman's feet will swell. Don't worry, as this is normal. However, if your feet are itchy, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a check-up.

It is normal for pregnant women to have swollen legs, which usually starts from the 28th week of pregnancy. However, it is not normal if you keep it that way. You can first rub it with olive oil or lotion. If it doesn't work, it may be cholestasis and you need to go to the hospital for treatment.

Raise your legs before going to bed or resting: Raise your legs for 15 to 20 minutes before going to bed, which can effectively reduce intravenous pressure, relieve swelling of the feet during pregnancy, and prevent varicose veins in the lower limbs.

Choose light and low-salt foods: Do not eat too salty foods. The body's ability to regulate salt and water during pregnancy is relatively reduced. If you consume too much salt, it will cause edema to worsen.

Pregnant women with swollen feet should ensure that they have a balanced nutrition: ensure an appropriate amount of protein and sufficient fruits and vegetables every day, so as to improve their own resistance and enhance metabolism.

Pregnant women with swollen feet can also try to get used to sleeping on their left side: sleeping on the left side can relatively speed up blood return and effectively reduce pressure on the heart.

Pregnant women who stand or sit for a long time should pay attention to rest: Pregnant women who have swollen feet due to standing or sitting for a long time should move their legs appropriately or change their posture. It is best to rest for 10 to 15 minutes after working for an hour to alleviate the severe swelling of the feet.

Pregnant women with swollen feet should eat less food that is easy to cause bloating and difficult to digest: If pregnant women eat too much food that is difficult to digest or easy to cause bloating, it can induce abdominal distension, lead to poor blood return, and thus aggravate edema.

Finally, if it is normal swollen feet during pregnancy, pregnant women can use the above methods to deal with the swelling. However, some swollen feet are abnormal conditions of the body, so expectant mothers should not take it lightly. Pay attention to whether you have a normal pregnancy phenomenon and deal with it properly.
